How do I know the German public schools in Pennsylvania aren't teaching anti-semitism or that the red neck schools in Mississippi aren't teaching secession? It's the state departments of education's job to decide how to control curriculum and back ground check their employees.

Islam is based on everything and nothing. The Quran is not a history of the faith, like the Hebrew Bible, but an apparently random collection of verses that is worse than the Bible for being self-contradictory.

You can find a Quran verse for everything you want. It is a religion of love and peace--you can find plenty of passages to prove this. It is a religion of hate and intolerence--you can find plenty of verses to prove this, too. The "People of the Book", Jews and Christians, are respected as fellow children of Abraham. All infidels must be extermined, of course, this is also written.

The Quran stands for everthing and nothing. Islam is whatever the particular Muslims wants to make of it. Some are truly peaceful and tolerent men of God. Others are truly hateful and intolerent men of God.

It is a waste of time to try to make logical sense out of Islam. I tried once. I wasted my time.

All you can do to get at the core of Islam is to look at the countries where Islam is dominant. All of them have a common theme: repression of women and intolerance of freedom.

Not exactly true. Turkey is an islamic country that has had a westward-looking secular government for 100 years. What you refer to are Arab countries, where islamic suppression is rampant and Iran which backslided since the fall of the Shaw who had westernized it.

The irony of it all is that the most progressive Arab country was Iraq! Women could vote and did not have to wear burqas. They could drive, work, go to college, wear makeup and high heels. Women could vote and run for office. Liquor was available as well as pornvids. Saddam's government, while dictatorial, oppressive, and authoritarian, was a secular government, not run by the mullahs or involving Islamic law.

The most restrictive Islamic country is our "ally" Saudi Arabia, who we are about to arm with our latest weaponry, some of which will find its way to the Sunni insurgency who will kill Americans with it.

Yea, imagine a country where you could never see the women in anything other than a blanket!
I don't understand why we always do this to ourselves.
I guess its all about oil?

This is a very good point. After 9-11 I did some reading on Islam and came to the same conclusion.

Beyond that fact I realized that religion is never an excuse to do anything. People are responsible for there own actions. Race, religion, or other social grouping is no reason or defense for any action in my opinion. In converse, a crime is no different if it happens to offend a certain group either. Even if this was a case of someone throwing a US flag or bible in the toilet it should not be a crime. As long as it was their flag and no destruction of property occurred.

Rednecks and Germans aren't a threat to us at the moment. If if we have to rely on the Board of Education to regulate them, then we're in big trouble
