    Re: mallory is gone

I suspect so. I think this was all hashed out by Miles to let them coach in the bowl game and have time to find new employment. Miles is a very classy guy, we must hand him that.

He has officially been offered the job. Don't know if he has accepted it.

I think WAFB has announced he has been named DC for New Mexico.

Very interesting. So, if true, we don't have a DB coach at present.

I see that info is "according to sources at the Albuquerque Journal." And "the job" is as their defensive coordinator.

Well, that's phase one of changing the defensive staff. Personally, I like Miles even more over this because it appears he's helping these guys find other jobs.

    Scott Rabalais:

Reports out of Albuquerque, N.M., are that LSU co-defensive coordinator Doug Mallory is going to become the new defensive coordinator at the University of New Mexico. The report from CBS affiliate KRQE was quoted Tuesday night by WAFB in Baton Rouge. The Albuquerque Journal newspaper in a similar report said that Mallory had been offered the job. (LINK)

    Times Picayune:

reports continue to circulate Wednesday that LSU co-defensive coordinator Doug Mallory has been offered the same post at New Mexico.
The story, which popped up Tuesday afternoon, is based largely on media sources in Albuquerque and LSU officials said they cannot confirm it. Mallory and a second candidate have been offered the job by Lobos new head coach Mike Locksley, though at the moment neither has accepted. (LINK)

    Glenn Guilbeau:

Doug Mallory is reportedly about to become the new defensive coordinator at New Mexico ... KRQE television in Albuquerque, N.M., reported Tuesday via a source in Baton Rouge that Mallory will be the defensive coordinator for just-hired New Mexico head coach Mike Locksley...New Mexico athletic department spokesman Greg Remington did not deny or confirm Mallory's move to New Mexico. "We'll announce our staff once it's complete," Remington said this morning. "That will be after Christmas." Asked if Mallory had interviewed with Locksley, Remington said, "I'm not aware of any."
