haha, nah, while I love gin, especially BBS, I rarely have it on hand. Usually something I order at a social or before a dinner out at a nice resturant. There are usually copius amounts of Makers however.

It is definately not meant for over consumption. There are things you can get away with having a few too many of, gin is not one of them.

I have to agree with MM on this one, Gin is evil and I've never been able to like scotch either.....

Just one with me at live bait in metairie. I was 19, the end of the night gets hazy. I didn't drive but I know in the morning we woke up to $1,900 in damage to my buddy's car and someone remembers hitting a curb while my other buddy drove home. We had to piece it together. Stuff like that scares the hell out of me now. So lucky to have made it to 30. I haven't had gin since that night. When someone offers me a gin drink, I gag a little.

Gin and tonic and martinis are classic drinks and I like them. Never more than one or two, usually with a meal. Vodka and gin are good with meals.

Bourbon is for sippin' afterwards, it will ruin your palette with a meal. Scotch does not do this, but I find that eating food ruins the taste of a good scotch. Whisky is for serious drinking.

Rum and Tequilla are good for juicy blender drinks that women love and get rip-roaring drunk on. But bad for serious drinking . . . especially tequila. Everybody has a tequila story. It starts with the shots . . . just say "No, three is my limit."

I love beer, rum, and whiskey. When that first sip of Crown hits my taste buds, I feel like Frank the Tank taking his first pull off the keg.

I like wine and some vodka drinks.

I've never been into martinis or gin in general. During my freshman year at LSU, my parents took my roomate and I to the LSU/Mich St Independence Bowl ('95) in my grandparent's RV. They made us some early morning Bloody Mary's (went down smooth) and then we had a few beers before the game (smooth once again). The game was so great that we didn't want to leave the stadium and were hanging out with other Tiger fans when I noticed an unopened (plastic) bottle of gin in the stands. That did not go down smooth but probably was a combination of the quality of the gin combined with the other drinks we had that day.

I also love margaritas. I've never been into shooting tequila although had a good experience about five years ago. I met my buddy for a happy hour in Houston and someone asked if we wanted to participate in a Tequila taste testing seminar (at the restaurant). It was a free steak dinner, free shots of their Tequila, and a 30 minute presentation about Tequila. Shooting their higher quality tequila was much better and smoother than the cheaper varieties (which they also had with them for comparison).
