After the first pancake, he would have had to block in the back to take on the defender when he got back up. But Cush was free and in front, and mauled the guy, leaving Magee free to go back to the pancake buffet for seconds. It was good unit blocking
The right move was to lay in top of him. As soon as you pancake someone in a pass blocking’s scenario, you get on top of them and don’t let them up. You’ll see Cush do this when he takes over the defender. I don’t think Magee should ever have let the player get behind him; you hit him and immediately get on top of him.
Very old school non aggressive take. It's silly. Because he did NOT do as you suggest, he was able to get yet another great block of yet another defender after his qb. I feel like I'm reading through the twilight zone sometimes.
With todays flag happy referees and the emphasis on protecting defenseless players, I am surprised that Magee didn’t draw a penalty. For sure if we were playing Bama.
