If he had posted "Lybia joins fight to stop Global Warming" you would not have criticized his spelling.

There were politics here for sure. Just not a "heroes welcome". Qadaffi listened.

It would have been hard to keep the media and public away, given the publicity. But more likely Qaddaffi was trying to balance between not offending the USA and not appearing to his own people that he was kissing the USA's ass. Dictators have to be careful about appearing to be weak.

I'm not defensive about the Lockerbie bomber release. I'm annoyed that a second thread was needed to try to paint it politically as an Obama failure when this incident is all about Scotland and Libya. SabanFan chimed in immediately (and predictably) to point out that it was an "anti-Obama thread".

Oh, I would have made a really smart-ass remark for that one.

Once again, I did not call this an Obama failure. This is a "the ball's in Obama's court, how will he play it?" thread. (Discuss, discuss) I take no responsibility for how SabanFan interpreted it.

Perception is reality. Don't go all "Wee-wee" on me.

Fair enough. What exactly do you think needs to be done?

Maybe I heard wrong but I thought the video said Qadaffi's son escorted the guy home? I don't feel like going back and listening again.

I don't think Obama has done anything wrong here obviuosly, but he needs to be careful, the lybians just did exactly what he asked them not to do. I don't know what the response should be but completely ignoring will send a message.
