I prefer to let either Muschamp or Jimbo take over. Better to have only one coach leave than an entire staff....

    Having said that, "STAY NICK!!!"

I would hope Saban stays, but if he goes, I think Butch Davis would be a great fit for LSU. As a Cowboy fan, I will never forget the positive contributions from Davis and then his bringing the Miami program back. If Saban wants to go, I say don't let the door hit him wrongly and bring in Butch. Butch is a great recruiter and we won't miss a beat.

Nothing I hate more than someone who only talks of problems, never offers soulutions.

Now that you've made it clear you don't like Butch, who's it going to be, then? Saying no to Butch without even offering alternatives is like saying "just because" to a kid who asks "why?".

Also, comparing talent evaluation in college to talent evaluation in the NFL is comparing apples and oranges. Does Nick Saban have to deal with a salary cap? People around him, be it a GM or an owner, who can veto who he wants to get?

How about the fact that Cleveland hasn't won anything more than a division title in 40 years? You think it's be more difficult attracting talented free agents to a place like Cleveland or attracting top talent to a place like Miami or LSU?

Besides, Butch had to try and win with one of the biggest QB busts not named Leaf or Akili in the past 10 years...a guy he didn't draft, by the way. Yes, he was the reason why guys like Willie Green were picked, but nobody's perfect.

I'm making myself out to be a much bigger Butch Davis fan than I am, but I think totally dismissing a guy who nearly won a national title in 2000 and recruited the players that made one possible in 2001--and not offering any alternative choices---is totally asinine.

Is that Torgo from "Manos: The Hands of Fate" fame?

Anyway, I feel red has a great point. All of these rumors justify Saban's salary, and it may help recruiting more than we all thought (every time Saban is mentioned in an NFL rumor article, LSU is in there as well). These kids know Saban has NFL connections, so if they shine here they would have an easier road to the NFL than at some other universities.

My avatar is Torgo from Manos, but the quote was what it said when you hovered over my then-red rep points icon at the time I posted. It was -19 then, b/c a few people disagreed with my political views in another post and slammed me. What is the rep point system supposed to be for, anyway?

Well since the rumors are flying, I will post the latest one. Posted on another site that Saban today was offered full control of the Dolphins and over 4 million a year. Also was stated that Sexton told Dolphins beforehand do not even come talk if Saban would not be offered "full control." Obviously I do not know if any of this is true. Yes I heard Bertman say yesterday he had not been contacted. We shall see.
