Thanks for all the great information guys... I love it... I hope we get all the top rated players at every postion!!!! :geaux:
Not sure how it all works but Wilson or Filo's dad said that in regards to both of them. So they could never go on a mission, play a year and then head to a mission for 2 years, or take their mission right after HS. No one including themselves really know what is going to happen.
This is one of articles on Wilson's availability. He is going on his Mormon Mission directly out of High school. http://byu.scout.com/2/760997.html Taking his commitment is fine. It is more or less a 2 year greyshirt. Plus in 2years, he'll definately need a redshirt.
Even more recently you had Howie Long/Chris Long. I just found out tonight that the 2009 class of high school recruits includes Dalton Hilliard, Jr., RB at Brother Martin High School in New Orleans (son of a star LSU RB and one-time All-Pro running back for the Saints). However, he's apparently not a big-time D-I prospect. But neither was Nate Montana, son of Joe Montana, who recently decided to go to Notre Dame (where Joe Montana went) and try his hand as a walk-on (a move which Charlie Weis is in favor of). Also, that same Brother Martin team that Hillard, Jr. is playing for also has DE Pat Swilling, Jr. for the 2010 class. He is the son of a six-time All-Pro LB for the Saints.
That article is from June 10th and since then has discussed the possibility more. Talked about the possibility less than a month ago of playing a year or 2 if he could get playing time right away and then take the mission. Not saying he wont take one straight out of HS but the information I posted were comments from the Utah kids fathers about the mission last weekend. So he could decide not to do one at all. Too early to not count them to the class numbers.
:geaux::crystal::helmet: An article yesterday in The Advocate on LSU recruiting said that LSU would only sign 20 prospects in this class and was almost done. Anyone else read this, comments? I surely hope it's not 20. I'm hoping at least 23. :geauxtige:champs::LSU231:
Mike Golic's kid is doing the same thing at Notre Dame, though I think he actually received a schollie. And isn't Chris Carter's kid signing with tOSU?
http://www.2theadvocate.com/sports/lsu/25925779.html?showAll=y My guess is that the number 20 is how many we have enroll, while 23 is how many we sign with expected non-qualifiers/greyshirts. Other interesting bits from the article: "The most pressing voids that remain to be filled for LSU’s staff, Henson said, will be on the defensive side with a pair of safeties, two defensive ends along with another linebacker and interior lineman. He also said that the Tigers covet a “big” receiver and could use a fullback." I'm guessing Randle would qualify as a "big" receiver, while Myles & Loston would make up the pair of Safeties, and Mingo would be the LB. My question is, what does he mean by interior lineman? DT? OG? Center? And where will we find 2 more DE's? I know we want a weakside DE in this class, but I don't see any realistic options right now unless we extend some more offers.
I really hope Sentimore gets his grades squared away so he can be a part of this class. I think he has a lot of potential. Hopefully he can move to DE, even if we get McFarland I think Sentimore is a take at DT. I do think DE is an important part of this class but over the last two year LSU picked up Corley, Agahayere, Clement, and Edwards. Since its doubtful Benton will be eligible I hope DeBose or Appleton are a part of the class as well.
