Baker could play the mike if we didn't have anyone else to play it, but I think Kevin Minter is the PERFECT MLB, which would allow Baker to play on the outside somewhere and use that speed.

Yeah but Minter most likely won't be able to crack the lineup as a true freshman. So it appears as though Riley, Sheppard and Baker are your starting three. Riley moving to MLB I could see. Baker anywhere on the field should be a treat for LSU fans.

when are we ever gonna get another commitment? Are these losses slowing down our recruiting efforts? There were rumors of imminent commitments after both the Georgia & Alabama games but nothing so far???

Based on the updates today, nothing but positive info from the official and unofficial visitors so far.

Looks like we made up huge ground with a bunch of 2010 prospects and Jarvis Jones.

TR is headed back to LSU again today to hang with Shep and talk to the coaches again.

The commits we have been expecting still look very good. Loston and Allen are LSU bound and Filo looks like he could be in that category as well. THis is the time of the year when most of the guys who have not committed yet will be holding out until their season is over or until NSD.

I hadn't even included Hicks in my last update here. That's how off the radar he was.

Ok, here is what I think will be the final projected class with projected top 250 rankings :

    5 Randle (#2)
    5 Shepard (#5)
    5 McFarland (#12)
    5 Ford (#19)
    5 Loston (#25)
5 Benton (will count in 09)
    4 Debose (#30)
    4 Davenport (#33)
    4 Jackson (#36)
    4 Jones (#39)
    4 Faulk (#45)
    4 Telfort (#69)
    4 Myles (#83) or 4 Sua'Filo (#125) or 4 Dye (#168) or 4 Stinson
    4 Pratt (#137)
    4 Calhoun (#147)
    4 Mingo (#171)
    4 Lowe (#184)
    4 Brockers (#189)
    4 Bell
    4 Downs
    4 Hicks
    4 Minter
    4 Allen
    3 Claiborne
    3 Garrett
    3 Williford
    3 Helton

Helton will get changed to preferred walk-on status
Sua'Filo elects to take his Mormon mission

That gives us 25 with Sua'Filo. If it ends up being Myles/Dye/Stinson, then that's 26.

10 of the top 45 become LSU Tigers. 17 in the top 250.

LSU has a legitimate shot at 9 five 5 star players since word is Benton will definitely count in this class. Ford, Jackson, Debose and Davenport could all end up being rated 5 star to go along with Randle, Shepard, Loston, McFarland and Benton.

    I project 6 which equates to a 4.12 average.

#1 class in the nation in all 3 major services.

PS - Don't count out Richardson just yet.

You have Davenport as a 4 star, what is that about?

I don't see Davenport dropping, and I have my doubts about McFarland coming here. Still think we have a chance but it may be a long shot these days.

I agree on both points. I think McFarland ends up at Texas. LSU is still in it, but I dont think we are at all even anymore or possibly in the lead.
