What's crazy is the respect LSU is getting - w/ 2 losses and ppl talking about us getting a BCS bid? How great is that? Like the rich can get to places the poor can't...a top program can get us to a BCS bid (possibly) that a regular joe program can't. I (and a lot of others Tigers) would definately go crazy if we play USC in the Rose Bowl! Delay match up from '03. Great for football fans and Vegas would love that match up too, I bet.
I don't know how many times I have heard pundits saying LSU has the best talent in the SEC, and comparable to any in the nation. It definitely has been a year of respect for our beloved Tigers, and rightfully so.
I have been pleasantly surprised by the respect we have received this year. Really wonder what has made this year so different. My only theory is that we have just crushed the teams we are supposed to crush. Ole Miss sort of throws a wrench in this idea. But maybe the opinions were already set by midseason.
I think anybody who watched both the Auburn and Florida game witnessed a clearly superior LSU team that either A) got screwed by officiating or B) gave the game away via turnovers Nobody has come close to beating us....if you know what I mean.
I think the media loves a team that can score. Great defense is not sexy enough to sell to the public. When a team can air it out...they just go nutso over it - ESPN highlights, i guess. And eventhough JR makes mistakes sometimes, I think before he leaves, he will be the best QB to ever come out of LSU and hopefully he will succeed in the NFL too.
I absolutely agree with you on your first statement. LSU should and could have won the Auburn games had it not been the many bad calls. Maybe it is karma that Auburn is now at where it is! I didn't think LSU deserved to win the Florida game as they did it to themselves. One positive difference with this years offense is that they really have been able to move the ball; just a matter of turning them into points (mostly hurt by turnovers).
Actually, this year's team has been great at getting points in the red zone. That's why Miles pointed to the sack as the play that cost the Auburn game. Give this team the ball on the 4 and they will score, even with only 14 or 9 seconds left. The problem with the turnover is that they come in bunches. They didn't cost us the Auburn game, but they certainly cost us the Florida game. They almost cost us the Tennessee game when we were the dominant team. Can't do that against the pigs or we can kiss the Rose Bowl goodbye. Of course if we win either at Auburn or at Florida, I think we would be #2 right now. Oh well. GEAUX TIGERS
