Last time I checked, an athletic director doesn't get the absolute sayso to which bowl they will attend, but maybe their's more to it that's way beyond the tangible things (i.e., rankings, logical choices, etc).

If the Rose Bowl committee, who is guaranteed to get the very first pick to replace Ohio State (that's a given), then the Rose Bowl can and more than likely will choose LSU. I guess LSU could turn it down. I don't know that aspect of it. I assume if the Rose wants LSU, LSU will go.

Maybe someone else has some info on the inner workings of Bowl deals.

In an excerpt from that article:

"The Tigers will pull for the Seminoles to upset SEC East champion Florida on Saturday in Tallahassee, lessening the Gators' appeal to the BCS bowls. Then they'll root for Florida to rebound and beat SEC West champ Arkansas in the league title game Dec. 2, which would almost guarantee LSU as the second SEC choice for a BCS bowl".

That statement is puzzling. If Florida beats Arkansas and goes to the Sugar, who cares if they beat FSU. That game would then be meaningless. I just don't get how Pat Forde could be making such a silly statement, as this is supposedly an area of expertise for him. I think what he meant was that in the event Arkansas does indeed win, Florida would be out of the top 14 entirely with a loss to FSU and Arkansas. That I can buy. It just sounded really weird when I first read this.

    I love this statement:

"Of course there's regret, because you always play to win a championship," said defensive tackle Glenn Dorsey. "But we feel like we made a statement today. They're going to represent the West (in the title game), but we know the road to the West goes through Baton Rouge."

Here is CBS Sportsline predictions (as seen in the thread someone started):

    http://cbs.sportsline.com/collegefoo...ls/predictions

It closely resembles my predictions along with brief explanations as to what, why and how.

They believe Notre Dame will beat USC and Florida to win out. Thus the differences in matchups. But most importantly they see LSU in the Rose Bowl. That's all I needed to see to confirm my suspicions.

im rooting for florida to sneak into the NC with two dominating wins. SC loses and florida goes ahead of michigan. is it possible? that would leave us going to the sugar i believe

since my parents went to the fresno st game, they told me that theyd send me to a bowl game if my godparents in louisiana are going to the game so im hoping for LSU to get to the sugar so that they can just drive down.

Florida would have to obliterate Arkansas for that to happen. We're talking somewhere along the lines of 55-6. I am not exaggerating.

I think Meyer "gets it". I think should Arkansas just tank it for whatever reason, Meyer will score and score and score til he sees double zero on that scoreboard at the end of quarter #4.

If Florida sneaks in, then the Rose pits Michigan vs. USC. That's a given.

Then LSU would be chosen by the Sugar Bowl (they would get first pick after the Rose Bowl replaces Ohio State).

That's our only shot at playing in the Sugar Bowl. I guess it should happen.

I'll just say this, if Florida can hold Arkansas to only 6 points, I say let them have their shot at Ohio State. Florida would also have to beat FSU really badly (especially if Notre Dame upsets USC, Florida will have to fend off Notre Dame in the polls as well).

In addition, I think USC's loss would also have to occur this week to Notre Dame. That will put Florida #3 just behind Michigan going into the SEC CG. A big Florida win as I describe could very well give the voters enough ammunition to put Florida ahead of Michigan (Florida will still be behind Michigan at #3 in the computer polls - Michigan will be a solid #2 in the computer polls, therefore requiring roughly 2 out of every 3 human voters to place Florida as #2 on their ballot instead of Michigan).

If USC gets upset by UCLA instead, then Florida jumping 2 spots on the very last weekend to leapfrog Michigan is asking too much, even with a big Florida win.

I'll be posting updates as the scores come in (Florida being the first big result of the day). It'll be like election day. State by State results.

If you have access to TF, it will be as if I am sitting there beside you.

Hopefully that didn't come off too creepy.

Even if we don't overtake WVU, we could still get the bid..they aren't obligated to go in order.

    No they aren't.

But if Notre Dame beats USC, Florida loses one of its last 2 games, Boise State beats Nevada (Boise is favored) and Louisville and WVU win out (they both are favored in their 2 remaining games), then you have:

    1. Ohio State
    2. Michigan
    3. Notre Dame
    4. W. Virginia
    5. LSU
    6. Louisville

Louisville takes the Big East. Michigan gets into the BCS NC as an at-large. Notre Dame gets an automatic at-large for finishing in the top 8 in the BCS, Boise State gets an automatic at-large for being in a crappy conference but finishing in the top 12 in the BCS, and finally WVU gets the last and final BCS berth as an automatic bid for finishing #4 in the BCS for a conference that holds an automatic berth for its champion (i.e., Big East - Louisville is champ).

That sucks. And it could happen.

So my reasoning is let's just let Florida win out and go to the Sugar as SEC Champs and then WVU has little chance to get an automatic bid unless USC beats ND and then loses to UCLA (highly unlikely). For some reason, I just don't like WVU getting an automatic bid.

So if you hope for that Florida loss tomorrow and get it, good luck having to wait out that USC game vs Notre Dame, hoping desperately that USC can beat them (I am almost sure they will, but damn I hate to chance it).
