1. Taken from a WV message board........

    Maybe hes right?:D

Overall, I just can't imagine that their defense is better now without Patrick Peterson.

Sure it isn't.... keep on believing that... then try to say the same thing Saturday night when the game clock hits 00:00
  3. WVU fans are mostly idiots.

They seriously think we can't pass the ball and the REALLY believe that 9 in the box will stop the run....

Furthermore, they think there zero run game is a non-factor in their path to glory over LSU.....
  4. After reading the WV stats ... your #1 is the key. WV only has one impressive stat .... Smith's passing for over a 1000 yrds. It's obvious that he spreads it around, and there will be a lot of short passes. Their top receiver has somthing like 36 catches for 239 yrds .... RR has 229 yrds on only 12 catches. Yrds per catch is low with this group. Our DBs are going to have to come up with a way to shut down the screens and short slants while still protecting against the longer passes. I think the LBs are giong to figure in that equation ... as I don't think we're going to need them much for the run. .. they have no running game.
  5. Pressuring Smith is going to be the key. Once we get in his face I think it will be all LSU defense. I'm predicting a pick-6 in this game by our D.
  6. Sam is gonna smash Smith's asz. Bet on it!
  7. I'll buy what you're selling.

WVU's DLine is bigger than Oregon, but I doubt they are any more talented than MSU's either (MSU, to their credit, has some serious 'ballers at DT), so I honestly dont' see our offensive philosophy stray much from what we've seen vs the Ducks and Dawgs.

The difference, IMO, from what we've seen from Oregon and MSU is that Geno Smith is a better, more pollished, "passer" than Thomas and Relf. I don't see WVU being able to have any dramatic success running the ball on our defense any more than Oregon did unless they start having success passing. Our coverage with LB's on RB's was exposed a bit vs MSU--especially on 3rd downs and I look for WVU to target these matchups and hope they get the same success. We're suppossed to have these, fast, pass-coverage savvy converted, bulked-up DB's at LB...time for them to step up in coverage.

It's a road game in a pretty hostile venue. I wouldn't be surprised to see a deep pass early, but should it fail, I would expect things to be a little closer to the vest until we get a one score lead.
