I'm against doing anything faddish with LSU's uniforms, especially incorporating black (a trend that got old a long time ago). On the other hand, I'm not a slave to tradition, so an occasionally-worn alternate wouldn't bother me. Just not black.
That patch is purple. Now that you mention it though, the picture does look somewhat blackish. Took a look at the original picture, and the color reproduction on it is poor. It's "Tiger Band Purple" which is pretty much navy blue with a little extra red, but this picture certainly doesn't show it.
our colors are purple and gold. not black and gold. nuff said. i didn't have time to read all the replies, so if someone already said it, then ditto. :grin:
