this years’ team and style looks nothing like the last several. we had more dingers through 7 games this year than we had in the entire 17 game season we played last year. hell, we still haven’t played as many games this year as we did last year, and the next bomb will make double as many as 2020. Tram batting average is 30 points higher, slugging % is 103 points higher, OBP is 120 points higher, and we’ve scored 40 more runs (in 1 fewer games) than we did in ‘20. Sacrifices and Stolen bases are down because we’re driving in runs instead of trying to manufacture them. Outside of 2 terrible innings, starting pitching is the deepest and best we’ve seen since what ‘13 or so. Fontenot looks to be getting his shit together, and Edwards definitely appears to be a late inning type guy. we just have to figure out middle relief arms to go with Blake Money, because he can’t do it all himself. this team actually looks almost nothing like CPM’s “brand” has looked for probably a decade or so. i mean more lefty pitchers three in the game last night than all of ‘19 & ‘20 combined. People who say otherwise haven’t been paying attention and are only looking at the scoreboard.
We will find out in SEC play. I think it troubling to be struggling like this vs far inferior talented teams.
I agree, big picture looks different. Just watch him do what he does. I don't trust him at all and I firmly believe he will eventually choke off the momentum at some point. Hope I'm wrong
i agree we have a lot of baseball left. I’m not close to ready to make any predictions on this team either. but we aren’t the only team to be “struggling vs inferior opponents”. Mississippi St was nearly swept by Toolame Ole Miss lost 2 of 3 to UCF (who is absolutely worse than Oral Roberts). Arkansas needed a late inning rally to squeak past La Tech Friday night. Florida lost to Jacksonville Friday night. UCLA dropped a series to San Fransico.
1st inning of game 17 had we now have more than double the number of homer’s we hit in 17 full games last year.
