I hate to be nit-picking myself, but TexasTigers was referring to BCS National Championships, not those before the system currently in place. UGA has a fine history, as does LSU, but pardon us if we're pretty darned proud of our past decade of accomplishments. As others have said, all season long, week after week, opponents' fans have come here, thrown out a lot of stats and proclaimed that THIS would be the week when LSU was finally exposed. All have been wrong.
Total Points allowed on season: Georgia- 213 LSU- 127 (with a harder schedule) But Georgia's defense is just as good?
Nate, I think the dawgs r one fine team, and so does clm. That is what will keep LSU on top. LSU doesn't take any team for granted. The upset potential is seated in the possibility that LSU doesn't come out and play. .... but that hasn't been the case this year, LSU takes all teams as if they r the best team in the nation. As far aa stats go, the most important is one u will not find on espn. Performance vs expected performance. The ga has a great def, allowing only 71% of what teams normally score. But LSU is better, allowing only 42% of what teams normally score. Ga will put up about 14 points. LSU will put up about 27.
Correct hence the term BCS in my thread reply. But that seemed to have eluded Mr. Dogg... yes I am aware of our 1958 title. I specifically said BCS... reading comprehension is key here.... Also what happened in 1958 or the 70s does that really matter ?? Really... Lets look at the past 5 years, recent history. Miami used to be the best team in the nation, now look at them. We are talking recent history Mr. Dogg. How do our teams stack up in the last 5-6 years. I could argue last year doesnt matter. It really doesnt. In college football it changes every year. Hanging on to something that happened 20 years ago not only makes you lost it makes you an Alabama fan. As for Miss State you made our own argument "Everyone has a bad game sometime in the season, even LSU. So if that is your best comeback to my stat post then I am very disappointed." LSU had a bad game vs Miss State, we just came off a really big high and it was a trip game. We will give you a pass on Vandy Explain Ole Miss, Tennessee, Kentucky, etc ? I guess you had 4 bad games then ? We are not saying UGA is a bad team, they are a very very good team. That we are not arguing. But if you are going to bring up stats on how UGA is better than LSU ON AN LSU BOARD !!! what do you expect. Us to say "Oh my go. Mr. Dogg is correct, LSU is a fraud and UGA is SO much better, ignore the same team match ups and the point diff, or the fact we are 12-0 and you lost to Boise State (Yes Boise State, nice representation of the SEC thanks for that...) No we will say LSU is pretty good and stats can be whatever you want them to be. UGA is a good team, as is LSU. and if LSU loses we will STILL think LSU is the better team that had a bad game.
What do yall think the Kentucky game was for UGA? We just came off the massive high of smashing Auburn to pieces and after what happened in the 2010 game that was a huge event for the dawgs. Thus the focus on Kentucky was not at its usual and neither was LSU's focus against Mississippi State, it just happens to teams no matter who you are. I understand you all not liking me coming on this forum, but I am not the ignorant opposing team fan that comes on here and post crap (UGA has a little more class than Arkansas, Alabama, and Auburn). All I set out to accomplish on here was to state facts and prove that the SEC CG is not going to be a walk through for anyone. I truly respect what LSU has done this season but I also think UGA deserves at least some respect for going on to a 10 game win streak after a horrible start to the season and a losing season the year before. I thank the few fans on here who realized this and who respect the Dawgs for what they have done this year. I have already admitted that LSU has the upper hand in this game but no one will be dominating anyone this Saturday. Even if the Dawgs do lose this weekend it will be against the #1 team in the nation and there accomplishments should not be overlooked. If anyone else wants to discuss facts or reasonable game day thoughts I will be more than happy to do it. I love SEC football just as much as anyone on this forum and enjoy talking about the true National Championship game. Anyone who wants to just wants to trash talk and call me names can go to someone else cause I am not interested in it. Thank you.
Then why didn't you say anything about the point differential that I noted; wouldn't you agree that is the most important item when comparing how each team did vs. common opponents????
people who claim to have more class, don't. we've demolished EVERY opponent outside of bama and somehow the georgia defense has "consistently proven to be better". as was posted earlier 127 points allowed (stronger SOS) versus 213; 42% of opponents' average score versus 71%. skewing stats ain't gonna get you very far here.
First of all, stats do lie. Second of all, bolded part...LMAO now you're just being ridiculous. Consistently...it hasn't proven to be better even once. Not to say it isn't good. It is. LSU has 10 SEC titles. 11 after Saturday.
