I'm a little discouraged, State beat us at our own game...
    Rebounding........

Our defense sucked, it wasn't like a Brady team for much of the
    game.

the only encouraging signs were we were able to shoot from the
outside and got them to stop playing zone on us for awhile.
AND your not going to win everygame in basketball.

I always thought shooting from the outside would be the key.
I NEVER thought this team would play like they did today.

I don't like it because our back court is just too hesitant to shoot
    from the outside for example......

We needed a quick shot in the final minute and we're still looking
to pass the damn ball instead of shooting.

There is NO Identity or go to guy on this team on the perimeter, and NO LEADER!

    we played poor defense

State shot 40 percent from the field...our defense was excellent throughout the game...if our offense wasn't so damn porous through out the 1st half we would have won the game

can't blame the defense on this one

i thought brady did an excellent job in containing roberts and bowers (didn't hit 1 three)...bowers was only 3 for 10

    kudos to our D....

Our offense was who didnt play well. Only putting up 15 points in 20 minutes!?!? Thats awful!...If we would of scored at least 22 points in the first half, I think we would of won. Overall, LSU played poorly.

Sourdoughman, I disagree about how to beat a zone. Mike D thought i was stupid, but as we showed in this game the best way to beat a zone is to penetrate. It was our penetration, and a couple of post flashes to the ft line, that got us back in the game.

Unforetunately, this game was too predictable. With a young team (especially young guards) we will get inconsistent play. Think about, every game against a decent team, except the Utah game, we've had really bad stretches. You wont win like that much in the SEC.

I'm proud that it seems we have solved the zone D. Hopefully we build on that and can consistently do it. We will do well against man def because you cant double our post with two great big men.

Unforetunately, i think we have to play Whipple most of the game. He's a liability on D, but he had a GREAT game. Minor is still way out of control. He had to screw up about 10 times. We win if he doesnt play.

Looking forward to next game. Lets see how we handle the zone.

I disagree also, without Whipple, Hudson, and Mitchell hitting the
3's we would've lost by 15 or 20 points when you look at the final
    score.

When Hudson hit those shots at the foul line he moved in from the 3 point line.

When you penetrate the zone 1 of 3 things will likely happen.
    1 charging foul
    2 defensive foul
    3 turnover

The reason they didn't use the zone for a while is because we knocked down a good number of 3's.

Almost everytime we tried to force the ball inside against the
zone it was a turnover in the 1st half.

Whipple needs to assert himself more and shoot if he gets the
opportunity against the zone, he seems to be able to hit that
shot just as much as anyone else.

Where to hesitant to shoot from the outside, NO One wants to
    take the big shot.

Thats one thing I like about Tack Minor, he doesn't hesitate from
    the outside.

Keep in mind he did have a bad day today, but ALL Freshman are
going to have good and bad days.

I remember a few bad games by CJ when he was here.

still disagree. this team cannot shoot 3s well enough to consistently beat a zone d. this team needs to learn to pass around the perimeter quicker/better (if possible) to get open 3s, penetrate to break down the zone, or pass to high post (perfect for our post players). you have to know your personnel---our guys cant consistently shoot over a zone.

i bet cj had only one game of less than 10 pts and 5 of less than 20

those of you who said we can't blame our defense for the game
Saturday need to look at the boxscore:
    http://www.lsusports.net/mb/04stats/lsu14.htm#GAME.BX2

Miss St shot 50% from 3 pt range, 60% the 1st half

    Miss t shot 2nd half fg% was 54%

I'll say it once again, this team didn't play Brady type of defense in
this game, if they did we might've won the 2nd half.

    Gumborue,
I think we both were partially right and I'll provide a Link here in
    a minute.

The 1st half we didn't shoot well from the outside, matter of fact
we couldn't even score inside, the only thing we could do was
    turnover the ball.

The second half we shot 44% from the 3 pt line and 58% from the
    field for the 2nd half.

I disagree that we can't beat the zone from shooting from the
perimeter or the 3 point line, I think the 2nd half proved if the
guys can have a 1st half like they did and come back and shoot
the lights out in the 2nd half its possible.

They just need to find a way to put it all together for the Entire
    game.

I think experience will help this happen by the time March rolls around.

I will say your right about penetrating the zone and reversing the
zone but I'm also right about shooting from the outside.

We were both right and here's the link:

    About the CJ comment:

It was just an example, I think we will agree freshmen will have
thier ups and downs for the most part.
