Why all of this wailing and gnashing of teeth? We already knew our o-line sucks, and we're not going to blow out SEC competition with that group. What we didn't know was if Peetz could make adjustments on the fly. The difference between the first and second half indicates he can. We knew we were playing an offensive play caller who torched us for 680 yards and 44 points last year, with basically the same defensive personnel. What we didn't know is if our new DC could find a way to slow them down, at least enough to give us a chance to win. He did. Letting them back in the game was disappointing, but not surprising given the defensive game plan. Also disappointing that we never adjusted to picking up their backs out of the backfield. But we tackled well, we limited the big plays, and we kept them in check long enough that the late flurry was too late. I'd love to be able to say, after the great season of 2019 we should be able to just reload. But few of these players contributed to that. 2019 is a long way back in the rear view mirror. Our coaches are trying to get these players back to a correct frame of mind after the 2020 debacle. I see progress.
My oh my! It's clear Autumn day but oh Lord it might cloud up tomorrow. Some of you guys could find a dark cloud on a crystal clear day.
