This is a great post. And if college football was the game of even ten years ago, your point would be especially accurate. My concern is that, in the age of an endlessly-revolving transfer portal door AND NIL, coaches don't have time to get their players in and establish their systems. They essentially have to keep "courting" these spoiled, petulant players fir four years...while trying to also recruit spoiled, petulant high schoolers who all think they are the king of the mountain, too. College football is but a shadow of its former self... Can you imagine how watered down and REALLY one-sided the Saban/Miles series would've been if our talented players could get pissed at Miles and jump ship and bring playing for Saban within weeks? Just think about that...and THAT is where we are.
Honestly I wouldn't have been. We had no answer for them all night, the defense was gassed. I would have respected him more if he recognized that we wanted, better yet had no business going OT and just tried to win it right there.
Going for 2 and making it would have sowed the seeds of an LSU legend from Kelly’s very first game. Going for two and missing would have, well you see. But we would have gone down fighting and put the entire football world on notice. Geaux Tigers.
No question about it. Between NIL, the transfer portal, conference realignment and the playoff expansion, my interest in college football is dwindling by the day. Thank God for 2019. Quite possibly the last “greatest season of all time”.
