Now...we may not beat Southern. But...I HATE when teams have a warm-up game before we play them in our week one.
We're going to miss York, that's for sure. How long has it been since we've muffed (and lost) two punts inside the 20?
I feel much better about Daniels now than I did going in. He was running for his life much of the first half, though there were definitely times that he was too quick to tuck and run. When they went up tempo with short drops and quick throws in the second half he looked much better. He has room to improve, but if I were listing glaring problems - and there are many - he wouldn't be one.
Oh I understand the coach, staff, and players are having their first season playing together against a team that has already worked some kinks out. Always a risk, but it does look good when they pull it off. I say what I said because despite what was one of the worst performances by LSU I have seen in long while, despite it being their first year after a pretty much total rebuild, they were afforded every opportunity to win that game and still managed to lose it. It was like watching the bad news bears. Have I given up on the team? Hardly... But I am still gonna call it like I see it. They were terribly uncoordinated, the o-line was bad, the QB wasn't exactly stellar, we hardly used a few of our most talented guys on offense, and they all looked terribly un-coordinated and confused.. over all. Will be I watching the rest of the season? Of course I will.
Not throwing it away. I was thinking they would finish somewhere between 7-5 and 9-3. Now I am much closer to the 7-5 side. 6-6 or worse will be a disappointment. This rebuild is going to take time and we will need to be patient.
