Mike Andersons, Phil's Oyster Bar, Drusilla Seafood, and Ralph & Kacoos are the most popular. All will be crowded on game weekends but you can get in with a reasonable wait, they are used to it. TJ Ribs is especialy good at moving a crowd through on game day and serves fine BBQ. Good Bar & Grills abound. The Chimes, Walk-on's, The Pastime, Georges, Ivars, Sammy's and Brewbachers are all great LSU bars with excellent food. Juban's is kind of upscale but has the best Louisiana cuisine. And don't forget 24-hour breakfast at Louie's Cafe, a classic diner with the best omelettes and burgers in town. Avoid the high-crime neighborhood to the north of campus, the better parking is on the south side anyway. Welcome to Baton Rouge.
We booked our hotel rooms months ago. One in NO and one in BR. Well, we obviously can't stay in NO, and our hotel reservation in BR won't be honored because FEMA is using the hotel. Now were staying in Mobile, so we won't be anywhere close to BR on Friday evening.
Awesome! Thanks for all the info. I'm excited about the chance to visit Death Valley. We're looking forward to trying some of the restaurants! We tried Dreamland BBQ in Tuska a couple weeks ago and it was pretty good!
stop by the KOC RPH tailgate..... I have shipped some gin and rum and tequila... bringing 2 bottles of Crown... should be a good one... Bringing crown royal footballs....
There was a Dreamland in Baton Rouge recently but it closed up. I can't really recommend a good BBQ restaurant here in town, but I can recommend Italian. Vincent's on Essen Lane is quite good, and probably my favorite Italian restaurant. As for steak houses, Ruth's Chris on Constitution Ave. off of College Dr is my personal favorite. The seafood is a mixed fare at best, and I'm biased because my family all cooks better than these restaurants do. I'm with Red on the choice of Juban's on Perkins at Acadian near campus, but the others are mostly crap IMO. For Mexican, your only real choice is Superior Grill on Government St. Second is Ninfa's on Constitution.
You're the man aztiger! :thumb: You're getting in Friday, right? Most of us will be down Friday evening. Leaving West Monroe around 4pm.
http://www.koc-rph.com/aboutus.html here is the location for tailgating....... early rise to get ready...... stop by and say hello.. and have a beverage.... :geauxtige LSU! grad 99 you can email me at [email protected] my brother is not making the trip
Agree wit all those spots. Sullivans is good place to grab a good drink and hang out the night before the game, but since you all are staying mobile, that is not possible. I still think the chimes at the northgates of lsu is great place to grab something to eat and drink. they have a wide variety of la dishes and you will see my name on the wall a half dozens times for going around the world.
