Uh oh. Hate to second guess but I do not like the call to intentionally load the bases with a walk. Bats better come alive.
Wow...4 runs with 2 outs so late in the game really hurts. Time to get out the rally caps. GEAUX Geaurls lets get it going!!!!!!!
I think it was the right call. She was the only batter that could have made it a 3 run score with one swing of the bat. The umpire just squeezed Smitty too damn much. That batter that followed sounds like it should have been a strikeout on the 3-2 count. Hate umpires that control the outcome of the game.
How the hell do you know where that 3-2 pitch was? Do you have some tv coverage that noone else has? Or do you always believe what the homer announcers say? If the strike zone is tight you don't walk the bases full to give yourself no room for error.
Now with the tight strike zone I can see your point about walking the batter. Maybe you just pitch carefully to her and hope she goes after pitches out of the strike zone. But hindsight is 20-20. I don't think anyone would have posted diddly squat had she struck out the next batter. Then Yvette would be looking like a genius. But again you do make a valid point about the tight strike zone.
Yvette Girouard is in her 4th WCWS. She built the ULL program from nothing into a national power. She has LSU one game from the finals and is the only non west coast team still in the tournament. She is either in the dugout or the 1st Base coaches box. But, Tigerskin from his living room listening on the radio will second guess her instincts. Some of you freakin losers really crack me up.
I probably would have not posted about it if it would have worked out but I have always felt that intentionally walking the bases full puts too much pressure on the pitcher. Over the years I have seen many times where the next batter unintentionally walks. It throws the pitcher out of their rhythm in a pressure situation.
At this point would you consider giving Turner some pitching experience at the CWS or ride Smitty to the end? 4-1 with runners at 2nd and 3rd with two outs.
