You can beg to differ all you want. This is a very different time. People are much more busy in their daily lives. The Internet didn't exist in 1981. The income level here is fairly low compared to Tenn, Fla, UK, UGA, and probably Ark. It costs a lot of damn money to even get to the nosebleed seats. That's why we were sold out against UGA with $5 tickets You don't live in Baton Rouge any longer. Your viewpoint must be myopic. Austin is a much richer and fat cat town than Baton Rouge ever was. I think we can get a good coach if we pay the money. Hell it only took 800K to get Bruce Pearl in UT... and they are selling out the place over there compared to when Buzz Peterson was running the show. Bottom line... we have cheap, fairweather fans who hate our coach. Unless they do something about the coaching situation, promotions, and ticket prices, not much will change in Tigertown. AD's have fired coaches before when better ones came available.... at no fault of the current coach.
We are 2nd in the SEC in attendance behind Tenn this year as well as last year. I don't know where you get this idea that we don't support our teams. Like any school, win and we'll be there. EDIT: I'm talking about women's bball attendance.
sure we CAN get a good coach, but the odds arent great (although better than in football). many thought buzz would be good, stan too. memphis shelled out $$$ for cal, but its taken him about 7 yrs to get a good team.
name the teams that consistently have ranked basketball and football teams---the ones i can think of that have that now have only gotten there recently--UT, UT, OK. UF may be the best, but their fball has been off and on since spurrier left. LSU is as good as any.
