What a difference a week makes, huh? I admit, I'm not the biggest basketball fan in the world, but when LSU is fun to watch, it does get me excited about the sport. The win against Marquette could turn out to be huge. I sure would like to have those games against Coastal Carolina and South Alabama back, though. Those hurt.
Agreed. Agreed. What a difference 2-3 weeks makes! But, that's why you take the excitement of BCS week to week madness, over a 11 week season, and here, you cram it all into 2-3 weeks leading to march madness! Here's why. You say that the Coastal Carolina loss hurt, but this is a team that is trending UP in the RPI. They are like RPI #159 out of 344 teams--they also as history would show, usually make a run at the end of the season in the Big South. That's why the next 2 weeks are going to be key. Northwestern... sure, they're 5-7 in the Big10, but they have a RPI of around 45, and they've won 3 of their last 4. They're trending upwards, so if they keep winning, that close loss will look not so bad. On the same token, we want UVA to turn their fortunes around... they've lost 3 of their last 4, and we want their RPI (#41) to stay up there (they are trending downwards). The only really bad loss for LSU is South Alabama (#178 and trending down). But, it was very early in the season. It's hugely important that LSU finish strong, b/c the committee looks at trending as well. We want LSU to keep winning and all of the teams that they've played (other than mid-tier SEC teams besides LSU) to keep winning. What a difference a week makes is right, for many reasons. Time to dig in and follow the stories all over the country basketball fans! :geauxtige:geaux:
I already enjoy March Madness one of my favorite times in all of sports, mostly because its lengthy, full of upsets, and of course your bracket. So if our tigers get in that would make the March/April even better.
