i havent read this thread, and i dont have anything to add except that i listened to the game, it was awesome, i am psyched as hell, and looking forward like crazy to the rest of the season. GEAUX!
Hey guys- If this team stays together and that is a BIG IF, this team can do something very special this year. I think that the tuff early season schedule is going to help us. That is a fact. Lets give some credit to Brady. T Thomas is this years stromile Swift in my opinion. If we can somehow cut back on the turnovers we can be great this year. I truely believe that. Geaux Tighas. There is no question this team is very talented. We scored 30 points in the first half and 58 in the second. HOLY COW as jim hawthorne would say.:geauxtige
Did anyone see the fist pumps that brady gave to the team and the crowd at the end of the game. I thought that was awsome. I truely think this, we do not know yet how good that this win tonight was. I am not a Tenn fan by no means but facts are facts Tenn is a lot better team than what they showed tonight. How about that Defense the tigers played tonight around the perimeter. I thought in my opinion that was the difference in the game tonight other than big baby and thomas blocking everthing in the area code.:geauxtige
somebody needs to invent a "thunder and lighning" sort of nickname for tyrus T/big baby. i will go to work on it.
I'll also quickly add, WAY to GEAUX tigers! Great win against a team that also worried me... a guard oriented team shooting over 40% in threes, and (gasp) a team COACHED by a "hot" up and comer in Bruce Pearl that had up to this point coached his team to a hot 11-1 season with a win against then #6 Texas on their floor. I suppose the Brady bashers will say that Tenn "couldn't match up" with our size, or that any moron would have been able to beat Tenn (like Rick Barnes perhaps?), but I'll say that Brady and squad need to be commended. We were able to play to our strengths, while taking away theirs (dominated the boards and established low post offense, while limiting a usually good outside shooting guard squad), and perhaps that's coaching? :hihi: Anyway, also wanted to give props to G.Temple and D.Lazarre for great d, and their "developing" offense as unsung heros to Davis and Thomas's play. Garrett is coming into his own and when he can learn to play within his game on o (i.e., start to milk a more reliable midrange game until the three pointer starts to fall), he's going to be a pretty good guard for us. Darnell is starting to also gel as an "off the bench" good solid contributor, especially getting to the charity line and hitting 'em. Tas', despite a relatively quiet night, also played well. Now, if we could only shore up the turnovers... D.Mitch and Voogd had a little bit of an off night, but I think being at home and being able to rely on various players was a real plus for this team. Speaking of which, the stats said attendance was something like 9700+. Did that paid attendance actually show? If so, that's the beginning of what may be a stronger SEC attendance this year. I'd like to see this team push their averages well above 10,000 this season. This team really is deserving (regardless of your Brady affiliation) and can really make a run in SEC this season! :geauxtige I think the increasing attendance will have to start with the LSU students. If they can be positive, supportive, rowdy and bring the "excitement" back to the PMAC, local sports fans going to the games will slowly be won back. From what I could hear from the radio, the crowd sounded like they were into it.
The best sttendance I have seen in the PMAC in quite some time. The upper section on each end behind the goals was completely empty though. Everywhere else was mostly full.

LSU player of the game (based on stats)--TT (tough not to go for Glen). PERFECT from the field 7-7 with 17 pts. 9 BLOCKS. PERFECT from the line. few turnovers. 4 steals for GD very solid games for GD, TM, DL. another win with a weak performance by DM. key stat: POINTS IN PAINT 1 2 - Tot Tennessee............... 12 26 - 38 LSU..................... 16 28 - 44 why is this key? well, with LSU's dominant performances by post players, youd think this would be more skewed. this points to either UT not being able to throw it in the ocean, or great LSU perimeter D. CAN THIS TEAM BEAT GREAT TEAMS WITHOUT HAVING TO HIT OUTSIDE SHOTS? it wont be this easy on the inside against most good teams. and better teams will shoot better from outside. i still want to see another perimeter player develop. :geauxtige
I agree. We went and there was maybe 10,000. Loud croud. Heard Brady on the way home say something that made sense......they go to Starkville next, they win that one they have the next 2 at home........then I think you'll see some nice crowds. 12000 maybe 13000. Gotta win baby, then people will come.
Talk about a tale of two halves. The first half may have been one of the ugliest I've seen in a long time by both teams ... too many TOs and players out of control. The 2nd half was flat out exciting ... I can't recall such an up and down game with so many great plays in a long time. LSU scored 58 points in the 2nd half! The only downside was way too many TOs by LSU. Temple and Dmitch had 6 and Voogd had 5. That's 17 of the team's 25 from our guards. This game would have not been close if we cut down on the TOs. With that said, I thought Voogd played much better in the 2nd half and looked like he was gaining some confidence. With Dmitch on the bench, it was important for him not to play scared like he did in the 1st half. Temple is playing much better and is solid on defense. He could turn out to be a really solid player if he works on his ball handling. Actual attendance was only 7700. A lot of fans are missing the boat on this team. I know many won't go b/c of Brady, but they are missing a pretty good and exciting team. Thomas is worth the price of admission...
