if AU does it too then i apologize, i didn't know that.

anyone who does that pompous cheer deserves to get it thrown back at them, (sorry aubie).

i've heard it waaaaayy more at florida though. why would anyone want to copy anyhting florida does? i thought AU was better than that.

I was on the student bus trip to Tennessee last year and they definitely do the same style cheer.. its great, to be, a Tennessee Vol, I said its great to be yatta yatta yatta. so, its not just florida that does the cheer. as far as student chants go i can say this... (and maybe its just my wild imagination) but in the 5 years ive been a student here it always seems the students at the top are a different breed than those nearer the bottom. there always seems to be fistfights somewhere up there for the big SEC games and a lot of the chants seem to begin from the students nearer the top of the student section. I sat near the top of the stadium for the florida game and my friend had to throw down with some girl over a seat he was saving by putting his feet across the bench. she proceeded to sit on his legs and get into this huuuuge argument over it, while spewing complete filth from her mouth. not to mention ~75% of the students around my group was totally obliterated and acting like a bunch of idiots by falling all over each other. My only explanation would be that they tailgate all day, some get wasted, and get to the stadium later thus needing to sit at the top. This past game i was about even with the drumline two sections over and had a great time with my fellow students... high fiving them, talking to them, and even hugging them while jumping up and down in disbelief when we won the game. it was one of the best experiences ive had all season.

I've heard VT fans do it too. I think several schools lay claim to that particular cheer.

I have no problem with mocking another team after a win by using their own cheers when said cheers are obnoxious or pompous, so long as it's done after the game is won (I find mocking the other team before the game clock ticks to zero -- like defensive players celebrating on first or second down -- dumb and asking for karma to bite you in the rear). And I'm no hypocrite. Back when I lived in Louisiana and was able to attend games regularly, I never got my knickers in a wad when someone from an opposing team's fanbase mocked our Tiger Bait a bit after a loss. It's part of the game. So long as these kind of "celebrations" are a general group experience and not directed at single individuals, I'm cool with it.

Of course, I always preferred a round of "Hey, Fighting Tigers" when exiting the stadium.

I also think the students' chants from the Auburn game were funny, although I would have thought that an "M S U" chant would have stung Auburn a bit more.

Not at all, but it certainly seems to be a calling card. It's been a few years since I have heard the chants from my living room while watching any other game except LSU conference games and I watch a lot of college football.

    We are a spirited bunch...

yeah... if I heard "Its great to be an Auburn Tiger" one more time I would have vomitted... I go in gate 12 for the games and was impressed with the number of Auburn fans waiting on the team. And I officially know how it feels to be at a opponents field even though I wasn't. There were some good fans there and then there was some jerks... One fan got up in my face yelling War Damn Eagle or Go Tigers or Go Plainsmen... not sure which mascot he was pulling for at the time. Then I was walking out of the gate after the game and guess who I saw.. YEP the Auburn fan that I saw earlier. I shook his hand and said Good Game and have a safe trip back. It was a great game but so far Auburn had the greatest amount of obnoxious fans in one place that any other visiting team. Anyway, that was my experience.

You stumbled upon Tiger Walk, which we do for every home and away game. I actually like the away game Tiger Walks better because they are a lot smaller and there is a special connection among the fans cause you know you are in enemy territory!
