I can't get on board that it is a certainty that Weis will turn ND into a top 5 team. Just beating decent teams doesn't satisfy LSU fans and I doubt the Irish fans are any different.
its certainly not a certainty , but if i had to put down a nickel, id put it down on him turning them into a perennial top 10 team rather than not. and i dont think und fans are satisfied, but they will be after und starts regularly beating top teams in the next few years.
Last I head Lou Holt is still alive and with us. It may be the second coming of him that saves notre lame.:hihi: I'm not sure that anyone else can do it. And what does it say for South Carolina that he couldn't save them? Just Maybe its playing in the SEC versus being an Independent?
actually this is what ND has done much during the modern era. outside of the timmy brown and rocket teams, they pretty much make a living destroying air force and the coast guard on the notredame broadcasting network. I was/am a big believer in Weis but this is his 3rd year and honestly it looks like a rebuilding one which is odd. 3rd years are usually more of a coaches signature than the previous. Maybe Ty Willingham left him more talent than he got credit for. If phatimus jr. can win 8 or 9 this year, I will be impressed. PSU, Mich, BC and USC are all likely losses.
Weis has done a good job, but nothing spectacular at ND (so far). His recruiting has been very good, atleast according to Rivals but they lost a whole lot this past year & this will be a tough year for them. ND fans will point to going to BCS bowls the past 2 years as an indication of what Weis has done there, but it has been very obvious that they didn't deserve to be there either year. Weis has yet to beat a team that finished the year ranked in the top 25 (it might be one team). His sole claim to fame is almost beating USC. I'll be very curious to see the kind of job Weiss can do this year with a team that will be probably over half of his recruits.
