does it really matter (help) our SOS if we play the 117th best or the 120th best?

    ABSOLUTELY!

When you are dealing in hundreths of a point, every little thing helps. But we should not schedule bottom feeders either, if at all possible.

    And let me add this:

In 2000, FSU edged out Miami for the 2nd spot in the BCS by .32 ... in 2001, Nebraska edged out Colorado by .05.

    Yeah, it matters...

LSU owes the in state schools nothing. We have made the run through them and the competition level is so weak the games are boaring. Now we are suppose to play 1-AA in state. The recruiting wars between LSU and in state schools is just not in play. We compete with the top notch schools for blue chip athletes. These guys are winners and do not want to play for 8000 people with no coverage.

You guys need to remember that this year is a special year. LSU is only THIS good about once out of every 20 years or so. This is the first year ever that LSU's SOS has even mattered. Plus, like another poster said, if you win the games, it doesn't matter. The SEC schedule speaks for itself.

You are correct in saying this is a special year, and that this happens once every 20 years or so. But I believe this could become a standard with LSU. We have great players, great coaching, and each year it seems we are getting better recruiting classes.

Therefore, LSU's strength of schedule will be a factor in the upcoming years. We need to get some better competition in our OOC games. I don't blame this all on the people doing the scheduling, because we've had so many back outs, but whatever the reason is, it needs to stop.

Bertman's decision to schedule in-state competition wasn't done to be classy (it was done to make more money), but it was one of the classiest moves LSU has ever made. Ya'll don't screw this up.

The bottom line is that college football is not about winning national championships every year....it is about making the most money possible every year.
