People have hyped up the importance of spring games to the point that it's gotten ridiculous, like ESPN broadcasting the major programs. Spring games are nothing more than glorified scrimmages open to the public. You might as well look at passing reps in practice. All I'd ask the Lee-haters out there is to give the kid a fair chance having had a full year and off-season under his belt. Like it or not he may have to come into the game in critical situations. The coaches aren't about to take any chances with Shepard's development, so forget the fantasy of him coming into a game for an injured JJ and putting up 400 total yards and 3 TDs and rushing in 2 more.
I'll happily give him a chance. He's a great kid who I very much admire for how he handled a tough season. With that said, he won't be seeing the field unless Jefferson gets hurt.
Yeah, I know. But he still had accuracy problems like WHOAH. I'm hoping that when he takes the field, he'll be ready for it. But to set the record straight, I'm 100% down with JJ and I think he's a super talented guy. I can't wait for the Sep. 5!!!! :geaux::crystal::crystal::geaux:
JLee definately has some character. He could've quit and transfered to another school. He gets respect from me because he didn't quit. That's exactly the kind of guys that I want at LSU, personally. You guys can rag on him all you want. When I see JLee go into the game I'm going to pull for him. I'm going to cheer and hope he does well. We're going to need him at some point this year. He didn't quit on us and that's enough for me. :crystal::geaux::crystal::geaux::crystal:
LMAO @ Lee improved greatly during the offseason. He improved what? His GPA? His dating record? He certainly hasn't proven that he's improved at football... he hasn't even had a chance. Your statement is ridiculous.
Your statement is ridiculous by implying that he will not improve. All he really had to improve on is not letting the stripes on his helmet lead the play. Repetition and a close eye from a very talented coaching staff already looking for just those mistakes gives credit to Lee's current abilities otherwise, do you really think you would even hear his name considered in the mix? If Lee geaux's in without JJ being hurt then hold your breath if you so choose but don't forget Lee has demonstrated his ability to get the ball in the end zone. Having some discipline and a fresh look on defense just might be what the doctor ordered. I feel more confident with the JJ/ Lee combo now, more so then the Hatch/ Lee combo last year. I believe that is what Miles implied when he said “little bit more veteran." It is up to Lee to prove his abilities and earn his position this year. It is not up to everyones paranoia from freshman mistakes made last year to decide his position.
because no QB that has had a bad season has ever gotten better? JJ will be the starter, and take most of the snaps during the season. But if Lee does get in, don't automatically expect that he's going to continue to be horrible. Clair writes for the LSU paper, and has probably attended more practices than the rest of us combined. I'll take his word on Lee's improvement over a wild ass guess made by anyone else here.
There is no way anyone can factually make the statement "Lee greatly improved this offseason." The only way for that to be true and verifiable is for him to actually participate in college football games and show marked improvement. My point is not that he has not improved, it is that there is absolutely no way that that statement can be made at this point, because he has yet to play a football game. That is just pure scientific method. I fear for you if you argue with my logic.
well, when you use a phrase like "LMAO", you make it sound as if it were a ridiculous notion to even consider. I'm ok with your reasoning. apparently it was your delivery I took issue with.
 You must be a chemist! Let's see, do you add acid to water or do you add water to acid? Until Lee proves in regular season play he has not improved, your science must wait... That is what Clair is saying.
