Re: press release .. ...and lo and behold!!! Dispite having the most attractive home schedule in over a decade, with 4 top-25 teams coming to Tiger Stadium, some people STILL insist on crying over Appy State. ...I just don't get it . Why are people upset? 1. We have 4 of the 6 home games vs top-25 teams. 2. We play in the toughest conference 3. Look around, Miami played McNeese St. a few years back!!! You'll find more teams that were forced to schedule a I-AA school due to the fact that other I-A schools backed out of a prior agreement. I, for one, think that it's a good thing (Appy State).. It's a game where potentially all players get to play.
Exactly, even a Tulame would be better. After we see the score it will look like we played a high school team. And that's how many of the fans that have to pay for the tickets will see it too.
I understand that, but you didn't answer my question. Do you think the score would look any different for LA-Monroe?? They are a 1-A team, and the media wouldn't have made a big deal about it. But is LA-Monroe really that much better than App. St.?
Re: press release .. 2. We play in the toughest conference And look where that got Auburn. Thank you Citadel, good night.
Re: press release .. First, the hardest conference stuff gets old. Last year we played 2 good teams in conference and one average team. Next year could be the same thing but will probably be 3 good teams. Second, I don't care what our conference is made of, we still should at least put on the appearnace of wanting to play real football teams. We could also as many have said scheduled at least a D-1 team so we don't have to put up with ridicule from everyone around the country including our own fans and local sportswriters. Third, would you want to pay the same amount of money to eat at Wendy's and you would a Ruth's chris steak House? Pay the same for a ticket to see Ashley Simpson as you would an Alicia Keys are even a Jessica Simpson? The quality of the game and the competition means a great deal to me. We can also beat the crap out of a many D-1 teams and give our subs some playing time against at least decent competition.
Yes, iut could look different but maybe not. And I am not necessarily advocating a UL-M on the schedule either. I would love to stay away from Directional schools and their ilk as much as possible, but if we have to schedule a cupcake at least make it a D-1. People can talk about USC and their easy PAC 10 schedule all they want but at least they went out and schedule Fresno St this week. And I wouldn't expect us to bring in a team that good, but at least a Colorado St or another N. Texas caliber team. One that at least some fans around the country have heard of before.
This PISSES ME OFF. It is sad that LSU has dropped the ball once again with scheduling and had to settle for a lesser opponent on the schedule. I don't care what anyone said, LSU should NOT be playing a 1-AA team ever! We all know how the national media preys upon such things. If LSU has a dream season then that game will stick out like a sore thumb, regardless of how the rest of the games have gone. I also feel realy bad for those fans who pay very high "contributions" for better tickets. Sure, the rest of the home schedule is outstanding but App. St. is a slap in their face. It sucks, plain and simple.
It doesn't matter if App St. is actually better than a lowly Div.1A ,to the voters, it's all about perception. The NCAA declared Awbarn had a tougher SOS than OU or USC. Where did that moral victory get you?
Re: press release .. STOP BRINGING THIS CRAP UP!!!!! They would not have jumped USC or Oklahoma with a D-1 school in the place of Citadel. USC and Oklahoma were 1-2 the entire year. GEEZ STOP TALKING ABOUT THIS. You really think that this game is going to hurt us. We will already be 1, 2, or 3 in the poles by this time if we win everyother game before this.
