Well I go by the NCAA Strength Of Schedule and not the "computer guru's" such as Sagarin, etc.

The NCAA said we had a tougher schedule than both USC and Oklahoma. That's what I'm going to go by.

But I understand what you are saying about playing 1-AA teams. I hate it as well. I wish Bowling Green wouldn't have backed out, forcing us to schedule The Citadel but thats how it goes sometimes.

I think if anybody manages to go undefeated in the SEC next year, they will be in the National Championship. It's just so hard to do. The home-away schedule for you guys sets up perfectly for you to make a run at 9-0 in the SEC. It's a lot like ours was last year, most of the tough games at home.

I'm ashamed that we've scheduled a Div. II team--again. Having to defend that garbage in '03 stunk, and it The Citadel DID hurt Auburn last year. AU fans shouldn't kid themselves.

I dont see anything is wrong with scheduling this cupcake team. Look at our tough games we have next year. Our players will be worn out and tired by this time. Scheduling App St is a good idea and it will prove to be the right thing to be done. Our players deserve a game like this with one of the toughest schedules in a long time at LSU.

    Re: press release ..

Problem is, very few teams in I-A want to play a powerhouse team. If you are in a the SunBelt, you are probably already booked. Mid-Majors, you dont want to schedule LSU because you are hoping for a BCS bid. BCS conferences.. Like you need that headache. The funny think about teams like App.SU and Western(?) Illinois a couple years ago, is that they could beat alot of I-A teams, but the best they will ever be is 1 rank below the worst in I-A. The NCAA needs a power ranking system for these I-AA teams to better assess how they should be used for s-o-s purposes.

Then schedule an easy Div. I opponent for a break, not Div. II. It makes us look foolish, bottom line. The La. Tech game in '03 was a great "break" for us, but we didn't get ridiculed for the game like we did against Div. II Western Illinois, who actually gave us a better game.

    Re: press release ..

Ooooh, what a great idea to throw a curve ball at Arizona St. like that. They'll be thinking the whole time they're going to play a Saturday night game, and then at the last minute someone will point out to their team that it's Monday instead. What an ingenious way to throw them off balance!!

    I can hear Hawthorne now...

"There's nothing like a fierce Monday night in Death Valley!"

okay, that doesn't sound quite right...

Just to clear things up. App. St. is a I-AA, not D-II.

At least you did schedule a I-AA. Lots of teams do.

Now a D-II on the other hand would be rediculous...

Oh, and also, I think the I-AA thing is blown out of proportion. Does anybody actually think there is a huge difference between some of the decent I-AA teams and some of the awful I-A teams? I mean, would u guys rather see La-Monroe? I don't see the huge difference in skill from La-Monroe to The Citadel or App. St. The media acts like you are playing a high school team or something, I just don't think there is that big of a difference.
