Thanks bhelm! I am amazed at how many here think they know what is best for the team, instead of the professionals who are now handling it.

Already sick of hearing about the Marine angle. Correct me if I'm wrong, but this guy has merely joined the Marines, right? I mean, he hasn't actually gone in yet? Plus, doesn't he have a bit of a record of his own with the police?

I know we have a couple of Marines on the board, and I'd like to hear their opinions on this. But my brother is a career Marine, currently a Master Seargant. Earlier in his career he did a tour as a recruiter. And he would readily admit that not everyone who joins the Corps walks through the doors with a lily-white character. And while most of the sour apples clean up their acts thanks to the Corps, not all of them do.

Honestly, if I was any player facing a criminal charges, I would obtain an individual attorney. Nathan Fisher's long connection with LSU might make a player suspicious that he was doing what was best for LSU, which might not be the same as what is best for the player.

How dare you! The great war hero wore his Medal of Honor on his dress blues as he rode a white unicorn to the rescue of the innocent choirboys that were pulled from their church bus and lynched. I heard it on the Internet.

In this case, how do they differ? Granted, if they're guilty, its in LSU's best interest to get out of the way and let justice take its course. But unless Fisher's going to pull an Al Pacino "And Justice For All" grandstand play, the goal is to prove these 4's innocence.

it shouldnt really amaze you. 90% of the people here are blind diehard LSU fans. they want want it over now. the anxiety and irrationality is to be expected.

just sit back and enjoy the crisis.

They may not, but they could. LSU wants this to go away and not be tried in the media. This will be a tiny blip on LSU's history. However, this business could hang around a players neck throughout his career and he may have a need to proclaim his innocence loudly. What does Fisher do if he players start pointing fingers at each other?

The players may not all have the same best interests. Two could be guilty and two could be innocent. Two other players might be named. They each may have very different legal paths in front of them. Some innocent players may take issue with the police handling of the incident while guilty ones need to get along with the police and try to get reduced charges. If found innocent, Jefferson may have libel and slander charges going against some media outlets. LSU is unlikely to want to be involved with that.

I really hope Fisher has a plan and resolves this within a week. But the longer it drags on, the more likely that more lawyers get involved and we won't see an end of it for many months.
