Hard for me to form an opinion with so many unknowns surrounding the incident. With the information out there so far, I think the "victims" are likely the instigators. I trust Miles to handle appropriately but hope he treats JJ and others fairly rather than succumb to pressure of having to publicly "drop the hammer" on his guys. If that many football players were there, only four guys with minor injuries sounds like the players showed a fair amount of restraint. Given that the football players are all relatively poor at this stage of their life and the injuries were not severe, would the "victims" really get much $$$? Or is it more a matter of trying to get charges thrown their way?
i wish i could be confident. we have an ambulance chaser trying this in the press. even if exonerated, that is all that is gonna be talked about during the game telecast. and i'd bet good money "breaking curfew" is talked about without mention of the "tradition on last night of camp" thing. plus, i just keep getting the feeling the reason the ambulance chaser is trying this in the press and the truth is somewhere in between, meaning yes players beat the snot of of a couple of guys and have lessor charges brought, but not the murderous rampage it is being made out to be, that we will see civil suit. i think if the police say there was ANY wrong doing on the part of the players, this guy is going for payday.
could be both. try it in the press and if no charges cause his clients are lying, then try to get public outrage and in the press for the poor choir boys. i dont know what the truth is. most often it is in between. but as being portrayed, it doesnt add up.
You know what's odd about all of this? Is that no one recorded any of it with their phone. In today's techie/youtube crazed world where everything is quickly recorded and uploaded to the intrawebortory that no one whooped out their phones.
Nathan Fisher is not an ambulance chaser. He is a respected defense attorney and he has not been trying this in the press. Truth is he has been pretty mum about it, except to say that he hope the players will be interviewed this week, and as of right now the press will not have access to them.
IMHO Unless they get a confession, this will be a bunch of kids with a he said, she said bullsh!t and the DA will not have enough to press criminal charges against anybody and throw this out of court with ease, it happens all the time ESPECIALLY with highscool and college kids, they fight all the time, each defends thier own and the DA tosses it. The 4 lawyerd up, but will be going after Jefferson for a Civil Suit if anything in hopes of getting some money out of this....IMO
The second the media started reporting that one of the people involved was a Marine, I knew the "victims'" attorney was going for a trial in the court of public opinion. One good thing about Miles is that he doesn't let outside pressure force his hand from what I can see. I think he'll take his time, get all the facts, and then make an informed decision as to disciplinary measures. I really believe that tries to do what's best for his players.
