I know there is no more insecure group of people than Alabama's fans. Their entire self worth is in the success of the football team. Who else would cliam so many bogus titles when their real record is one to be proud of? It is laughable and sad they have no idea of how to win with class. Bobby's fate was sealed when he pulled that finger-pointing stunt against Les Miles. Ole Les, being close to NOLA and those Voodoo shops in the quarter, paid them a visit (or he maybe sent TM7) and got hisself one whip-ass voodoo doll in the likeness of Coach Bobby. The rest, as they say, is history.
I don't know about the finger pointing deal. Of course it made him look bad but it had been no secret in college football for years and years that Petrino was pretty low class, even in public. I personally think that little Nicky is probably just as low class and I bet leads the nation in negative recruiting but I will say one thing for the guy...he at least ATTEMPTS to hide it in public. Petrino doesn't apparently care. Remember when he told Arthur Blanks the day before he left the Falcons that he was in it for the long haul. Perhaps 1 day is his definition of long haul. And of course, he didn't even tell the players. They found out via the media. And you didn't even mention the after the game "handshake" where Les Miles reacted to what he said with a disbelieving "Wow!". I am certainly grateful for one thing. Petrino went out in humiliation both off the field and on it. Off the field, his last image was of a guy who looked like he had put his face into a cherry pie. His face was dominated by abrasians and red marks due to his motorcycle accident. On the field, Les Miles and the LSU team wiped his team off the map! You know how the media likes to hype up how close the games have always been for TV ratings...this game...NOT CLOSE!
Uh-huh. Florida thought the same thing... Also, win one without an asterick (yunno, facing the opponents starting QB or an opponent for the first time) and maybe then the rest of the country will start to care.
