I edited this post down to these two parts because they gave me these thoughts: In the build up to the game, one thing we consistently heard from Duck fans is that there is not a lot of tradition in the football program. If you look at many of the historically successful college programs around the country, i.e. Notre Dame, Michigan, Texas, Alabama, Penn St, Ohio St.......LSU, you'll notice they've been wearing the same basic look not just for years, but for decades. That's part of what makes a tradition, not changing things up every 3 years. As for the technology of the Nike uniforms, if they've come up with things that make the players more comfortable and better protected, that's great. So why not incorporate that hi-tech into team's traditional looks. Why can't lighter material and better padding look like Georgia's traditional uniforms, rather than a clown costume?
Oklahoma St. football has only three points of pride to hang its hat on: 1. Barry Sanders 2. Springboard for Jimmy Johnson and Les Miles' careers. 3. Mike Gundy's rant: [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aoMmbUmKN0E]Oklahoma State Football Coach Mike Gundy Upset - YouTube[/ame]
University of Oregon football has tradition, first game was in 1893. At that time Oregon had only been a state for 26 years. The population of the state was tiny, most of the Oregon was still wilderness. In baseball terms UofO wasn't major league, it was single A. In 1974 when I enrolled, Duck football was horrible. Oregon State was year after year, considered the worst team in the country by the newspaper column, "The bottom ten". Yet Oregon had lost to the beavers 10 out of 11 times. In 1983. Oregon vs Oregon State ended in a 0-0 tie, there were 11 fumbles, 5 interceptions, and 4 missed field goals. That game is doomed as the last scoreless tie in NCAA Div. 1 history. So we have tradition, a tradition of losing. With long hard painful frustrating years of effort, Rich Brooks got the Ducks to the Rosebowl in 1995. Oregon's winning tradition was born that year. UofO is building it's traditions right now. LSU does it the Tiger's way, Oregon the Duck's way. Changing uniforms every 3 or 4 years started in 1995, that is one of our traditions. One man's clown costume, might suit someone else perfectly. Nike, who knows, there's so much money involved, everything's virtually top secret.
Is it just me, or does anyone else dislike the single "L"? I feel like it should be LSU or nothing at all.
I'm pretty sure those pictures are from '09 Nike Pro Combat. The '11 looks a little better. Although the gold is still off.
I thought the same thing. The blocky L looks out of place. The shape of Louisiana, LSU, tiger head...anything else. The L does not work on this modern take.
Gotcha. Let's just get the aesthetics to match the technology Nike. What kind of sculpture? My father dabbled in sculpting. I have always wanted to delve into that medium. Painting, design, illustration, etc are my bread and butter. You post anything online? I would send u a private link but I don't think u are getting them. Tried already. ASD Not trying to spam. Just a friendly exchange.
