At first I thought these were ugly and then I remembered '09s and I realized it could have been much, much worse.
There are also some 'watch party' websites... essentially chatrooms where people watching the same thing discuss what they are watching like we do here at the site chatroom during games.
So you're saying that the uniforms should have no bearing in their decision? Does that carry over to fans, too? I only ask because I see a lot of bitching about something that supposedly shouldn't carry a lot of weight. Also, it's not so much the actual uniform as it is that LSU is one of a handful of teams every year that are asked to participate. It's a select group.
Let's just say when I was the same age as 'these kids' when I was looking at schools to go to it wasn't the gymnastics uniforms (yeah, I was a ncaa gymnast) that determined where I chose to go... it was the Coach and the team, academics and the quality of opponents.
Those were from year before last in the ar-kansas game. You know, the one where Chad Jones destroyed himself and the receiver in the endzone?
Flipping through the channels, saw a quick distant shot of Georgia/Boise uniforms, both equally bad, horrible. Nike's Pro Combat, has some special technology built into it. Special plastics for the padding and such, better strength, protection. Mostly, they have focused on reducing the weight of the materials. Nike claims they have a special fiber, and that it wickers the sweat away, and then somehow speeds up it's evaporation. Cheer up Red, your only saddled with them for one game. Sometimes, once you see them on the field, they're better than you expected,..or worse....You ought to hear the gasps and groans in Eugene when Oregon unveils their new uniforms. Duck fans who hate them, are stuck with them for three years. Every 3 years, Oregon unveils new uniforms, it's part of Oregon's pledge to recruits. Each class will have a chance to help design the next major installment of uniforms. This envelope of uniforms have feathers, before that metal plate, etc. After the major uniform change, they tinker with the design some each season. Sort of the same way, that they market new cars The next revolution of Duck uniforms are due,.. next season. Uniform style is catching on, a lot more changing of uniforms than even 3 or 4 years ago. I think credit/blame goes to the Ducks and Nike. Not long ago, a player from Oklahoma State said something like, "We've got a deal going with Nike, we want to be the Oregon of the Midwest". I don't think I like that, they're trying to steal our schtick.
I posted these thoughts somewhere else, but they bear repeating... I thought Georgia's helmets looked like the players were wearing Mohawks... (watch out Arkansas...Nike's gonna make your helmets look like Mullets !!!)
