Fla. WILL win the game because just like in '01 for Zero U and '02 for tOSU and '03 for LSU, it's their year. Fla. has played exactly like these teams did, had their luck go the same way by winning games they shouldn't have and then having the BCS fall their way at the very end. I will say this though. Were Fla. to just line up and play straight up , nose to nose football, they wouldn't even be sniffing a championship! Just like Arky, they wouldn't be where they are without that high-school sandlot game they play. As bad as I hate to pull for them, I will for the conference. But I sure as hell don't respect 'em! the true: champs: !
they worship that guy. When i lived in Ohio, I went to plenty of games and they think he's the greatest thing ever. Kind of like what Bama fans think of bear.
Ditto...My how things have changed, no? Have to admit that thread was a stunning read to really see what another SEC team(a good one!) really thinks of us.
Ohio State's 0-7 record against SEC teams in bowl games supports that statement. However this Ohio State is different from the other midwest teams and OSU teams of the past. They are deservingly the #1 team in the country for a reason. They have very few weaknesses, and Troy Smith always has a great game in the spotlight. But reading the UF forums has made it that much easier to root for them against the buckeyes.
Do ya'll realize that if we had a "plus one" playoff format we would be playing Ohio St and Michigan and Florida would be matched up?
:hihi: :hihi: ...still laughing!! I guess all I know is the Hawks have played three consecutive years against SEC schools in bowls and we have yet to be out-physicalled (is that a word?) or come home saying, "man, those guys were faster than us." Lots of things have changed since the "three yards and a cloud of dust" days... but who am I to try to change your mind???
i got nothin against iowa, they beat us, they win their bowl games... i was talkin about Ohio State and how they haven't been challenged by fast defenses because i don't think that 0-7 record is a coincidence.
And all I'm saying is a lot of people have died since that 0-7 record was accumulated. The perception is the Big Ten plays every game in three feet of snow. Years ago there were few passing teams in the conference, as beating OSU and Michigan meant beefing up for the run. Those days are long past... Ask Auburn if they thought Wisconsin was slow last year. The only ranked team from the midwest (as you say) that doesn't have defensive speed is Notre Dame. Weis has spent all his recruiting efforts to fix that problem. It has been their problem all year... and LSU will expose it again.
Well until the big 10 begins to be more consistent outside of OSU/UM, i think they will always have this stereotype, whether its true or not. All 7 OSU losses come within the last 30 years with the last was Tressel's 01 team. I'm not gonna make excuses for auburn they got beat down. However, my opinion is that when you see such dominance by 2 programs (OSU,UM) over the last 75 years, my first thought is that they have better athletes than the rest of the league to go along with coaching (in most cases). In the SEC, you see many consistently good teams (LSU,UGA,Auburn, Bama, UGA, Tennessee, Florida) who all have histories of being good for a long time, with the exception of UF before spurrier. So I guess maybe what i'm tryin to say is that the SEC has had more teams with success than the big 10 overall and thats maybe where the speed argument comes from, because not often do you have teams that don't have much speed that succeed. Thats just my 2 cents, im not tryin to change your opinion, just lettin you know where i come from. i'll be rootin for the hawkeyes in their bowl game, i've always been partial to them having lived in iowa before. but not too partial...(i lived in ames  )
