LSU! :yelwink2: You are correct. L S U supporters should be at the Pete Maravich Assembly Center supporting the Tigers at all their games. The facility has had a renovation and everyone should be thier to see how nice it is. From what I heard on a Lafayette radion station one talk show host considers L S U one of the best teams in the SEC but they are young. Another considers them one of the top three teams. Therefore, your missing a chance to watch a quallity basketball team play and make no mistake about it your presence in the arena goes a long way in inspiring these young student athletes on the court. Please, lets show the players what purple and gold pride is all about.
Tiger1958 - No, I'm not wrong, you are. Go to ncaa.org and you can look at the average attendances for 1981 and 1986. As you will see, we basically packed the house over the course of the season for both of those years. Hell, if you look at the top 10 crowds ever at the PMAC I think 4 of them are from 1981(including the biggest crowd ever). And you somehow misunderstood me again, because I said that Dale Brown used to schedule some bad teams just like Brady. But he scheduled awesome ones as well. Here are just some I can remember: Duke, North Carolina, Arizona, UNLV, Georgetown, Texas, Oklahoma, Louisville (and some of those teams we played multiple times). Like I said, Brady did a much better job scheduling this year. You may disagree with me about Brady and that is fine. But either he is a big SOB or he recruits players with the worst attitudes ever. Either way, it goes back to him and he's got to change something one way or the other. I'm not a blind follower.
The whole starting line up this year seem like players with the worst attitude ever. I hope your kids are as nice as Tas & Big Baby.
Downtown, I dont think you ever when to a game during that era. PMAC never packed except for a few games.
You see, Tiger1958, the word "never" means not once (unless your Bill Clinton, and then it means multiple times on top a desk). You said a couple of days ago that the PMAC was "never" packed even during the Final Four runs. Now, your saying it happened, but only a few times. Well, which is it? You either stuck that cigar up Monica's...Sorry...I was getting a little carried away with the Clinton analogy. Anyway, you just proved that what you typed was not correct. No big deal. And you're right, I didn't attend games in that era because I was a little kid. I don't remember 1981, but I do vaguely remember a few 1986 games. And, I have seen plenty of footage where the house was packed and the stats back it up. I'm sure you'll tell me I have glass eyeballs or something good. And for some reason you're not understanding my posts. I don't mean that every player John recruits has a bad attitude. I never (meaning not once) said that. I love Big Baby and his attitude. But either it's John's temper (most likely) or the players' attitdes that lead to such a high quitting/transfer rate (like Gransberry). And please, don't make me type a list of all the players that have quit/transferred. I don't know if anyone would want to read through a 30-page thread. I'll leave it at that and just be happy that the team is playing well right now. Merry Festivus
Sorry for the misunderstanding but PMAC was never packed in every game during that time. BTW, you missed quite a few games during that era. Just a tease, what was the score at half time when we played N. Carolina (M. Jordan) team.
Not going to rehash the statistics or get into a debate about Brown vs. Brady, but thought I'd add to the general statement. Wipe the slate clean and consider that LSU is one of the greatest sports colleges in the country. It has gone to a few final fours in men's and women's basketball (not too many programs in the SEC can say that), it is a program on the rise, and we have put players "consistently" into the NBA since the last few years. Why are there 3500 people showing up to games when probably the Tennessee men, Vanderbilt men, South Carolina men (do I need to go on?), get more attendance than this team? We have good players, a team that has been fun to watch (yes, they lost by one point to Houston... so they're young and inconsistent), and a renovated arena. It's time to build the fan support back up and make LSU a legitimate perennial top 20 program again. :geauxtige My biggest worry is actually when the FAN Base actually starts to become a detriment to the program. When you've got good kids like Big Baby, Tas', Stro' being loyal to their state, loyal to the program, and you don't have fans coming out to support the team... it leads to the overall "flatness" of the program and kids in other parts of the state start to think they'd rather go to real "basketball" schools. Then you see kids start to gravitate to schools where fan base actually is there to support the coaches. Bobby Knight (ok, tell me that Bobby Knight is more "friendly" coach than Brady) at Texas Tech (Terry Martin, Zeno), Vanderbilt (Shan Foster), Houston (Oliver Lafayette)--they're picking off our recruits, and at some point... the "lack of enthusiasm" in the program becomes a factor. So, my worry is in the recruiting... My sincere hope and realistic goal is that we should have a 15% increase in actual attendance over last year after the SEC play. If we can do that, we can keep the program moving up in the right direction.
