Is there any marketing being done in the BR area for the games? Not everybody gives a crap about college basketball, but some marketing could at least get some people interested. I guess there's just a not a big buzz about the games. And yea, addressing the assertion that the PMAC was never packed??? That's one of the funniest things I've ever heard. Recall when Shaq was here? You couldn't GET a ticket to most of those games.
Yeah, the biggest games were in the Dome obviously, but we even used to pack the PMAC consistently. You might be like me in that it's been so lackluster recently that it's almost hard to remember those days when it was packed. Remember the Deaf-O-Meter? Those were the days. I was just a little kid. We need to get there again.
I were there. One of the most memorable game for me was the Kentucky game when we lost in OT with all of the starters fouled out. Everyone was so proud of the lost.
I'm talking about the average attendence of the two teams which went to the Final Four. Shaq was in different era & the team did not go to the Final Four.
I think the last straw with a lot of fans in this town was when we put 11,024 in the PMAC for a promotional game against Auburn during the 2003-2004 season. They were charging $1. We lost 80-68 and looked like **** doing it.
LSU has a fine team this year. You guy cannt bash Brady anymore so the attendence is an issue. :geauxtige :geauxtige :geauxtige :geauxtige :geauxtige :geauxtige :geauxtige :geauxtige :geauxtige :geauxtige
Dale Brown had alot of energy and was a good marketer and rep of LSU basketball, while Brady doesn't come off as the friendliest of people. When trying to build a fanbase it hurts when you have a coach like that, mediocre teams and many times very, very poor home schedules. The team should be pretty good this year and hopefully we will pack the PMAC a couple of times atleast.
Tiger1958 - According to the records, LSU basically averaged sellouts during both of the Final Four runs. You're probably thinking of those first bunch of miserable games LSU used to play against terrible teams each year under Dale. And yes, we can still bash Brady. It's not something I enjoy doing, but I would have fired him two years ago if I was the AD. Attendance is an issue because it is. You can't ignore empty seats everywhere. Yet another player has quit on him this year before we even get to SEC play. I've never seen anything like it. You can't get too far when you barely have any players at the end of the year. With that said, he does have some "fine talent" this year. But whether he can get his team to play "fine" is the question. So far I think they've done pretty good.
I'm not sure if they seperated paid and actual attendance back in the 80s, but I can tell you from being there that a small crowd would have been around 8,000. Just about all of the SEC games had well over 10,000 and many were sold out. To those who said attendance was low back then simply don't know what they are talking about. And I don't recall so many no-shows like we have today. Check out this link from LSUsports.net. I assume this is paid attendance, but still impressive...Attendance
