That statement might hold true if the opponents LSU and USC eached faced were of the same caliber.

CERTAINLY you can't compare #15 ASU, a team that is predicted to be a force in the PAC-10 and posses one of the top offenses in the country dating back to last season, to unranked Hawaii, a team that is predicted to have marginal success, at best, vs teams in the WAC????

Obviously, I would rather NOT have given up 461 yards thru the air to anyone, but if I had my choice, I would surely feel better about a 4-pt win on the road vs the #15 ranked team as opposed to giving up a boat load of passing yards in a 46-point win to a nobody....

Its funny what comments you get when you just throw out a random fact without really commenting on it... I think the stats just show that any good defense can give up a lot of yards against a team that throws the ball 50 times... the main difference is that ASU had a good enough team to score on these yards, Hawaii didnt... I think that if ASU continues to improve in the next few weeks, they may give USC a shootout... Teams like ASU and Hawaii that specialize in the pass are almost impossible to stop, but the weakness is that they tend to have a low time of possession, which means their defense spends the majority of the game on the field...

the mentality of teams vary depending on locale and competition. Lots of money was made betting against away teams over the years visiting the Island. Can you imagine the fun Leinart and the Bathouse Bush Gang had the night before and after the game. Im sure the defense got lei'd as well.

Its very likely they knew they could go through the motions and win that game which they did and did.

LSU playing a much more formidable opponent is reason to worry. Simply because our intensity and focus was much greater and giving up almost 600 yards is more than a red flag to a QB with 3 starts under his belt.

As bad as the defensive scheme was, it is very obvious Keller made some great throws that a lot of guys wouldnt make even though there wasnt much pressure. He deserves 50% credit while our plan deserves the other half. I guess we'll never know to which degree the contingency plan would have worked.
