dude, do you expect every recruit to have a shot at 1st team AA? i would be surprised if there has been one in the last 5 yrs. what recruit with AA potential would redshirt? you can be a GREAT college player without getting any AA awards. blanton, ctIII, dupree, hammink (yes, geert was a great college player)---just a few that used up their eligibility, were great players and didnt get even 3rd team AA. your syracuse point is a good one. boeheim is a great coach. and he's been there about since dale started at lsu and just won his 1st title. if you want to sack jb in hopes of getting boeheim, youre delusional. and from what i remember, syracuse played a senior, two sophomores, and three freshmen. fyi--last year's lsu team played three freshmen, one sophomore, one junior and one senior. that team would not have won the whole thing, but they were good. brady can coach talent, but he's no boeheim.
what's ironic is boeheim was ridiculed and insulted his entire career moreso than any coach in memory because he had all that talent and no titles. when they upset kansas, going in, no one thought they would win because boeheim 'always gets far due to talent yet he can never win it all'. though I do i remember it was the typical roy williams lovefest. then he beat the overrated ex-kansas coach and now he's duly respected. he was no better of a coach then than he was before yet he had serious talent, namely pro-phenom anthony. coaching in college is way overrated anyhow. it comes down to players especially trny time because everyone is self-motivated and ready to play. no need for win one for the gipper speeches or any of that crap. no need to design special plays or get overly complicated. take the floor and run the gameplan. proof that coaching is overrated is because stupid coaches have won it all: jim harrick comes directly to mind. that dude's a borderline short-busser and jerry tark is also a proven non-genius. even daddy dale made it to the final four twice and he's not what anyone would call a mastermind of the clipboard. show me a winning coach and Ill show you top players. all drama ends there. ive learned to truly appreciate boeheim because he is a breath of fresh air as hes stayed at syracuse for 30 years through it all never complaining, never pimping his services for a huge contract and not taking shots (even though deserved) at all the naysayers after winning it all. hes won with class and is loyal to his school. totally refreshing in todays world of sports. once brady wins it all, it'll simply be because of his players. I eagerly await 3 weeks.
You're right Tirk. Boeheim has been a marked man for a long time for failing to win a championship and then he finally wins one when no one expected him to. I was happy for the guy. Basketball is such a fickle sport and coaches get beat on a last second shot in the tourney and to many it proves they can't win the big one. The list of great coaches who haven't won a title is longer than the one of coaches who have. On a side note, Boeheim's wife is very pretty.

No weirder than certain smug individuals who think they know it all because they have all sorts of "inside information"...
If winning was just about players why didn't we dominate wit Chris Jackson , Shaq, and Stanley Robert,s. If it didn't take coaching we shuold have walked all the way to the title. What do you think Mike K. (Duke), or Rick Petino would have done with tose players. The post of coaching being overatted is one of the stupidest things I have ever heard and thats putting it nice.
because you have to also have role players. the same way our olympic team got smashed is because often there is zero cohesiveness within the group. assembling a floor of only star players is more often a recipe for disaster than not. after making that statement you made me search for a quote I heard from the greatest basketball coach ever. I still agree with him. "No matter how you total success in the coaching profession, it all comes down to a single factor -- talent. There may be a hundred great coaches of whom you never have heard in basketball, football, or any sport who will probably never receive the acclaim they deserve simply because they have not been blessed with the talent. Although not every coach can win consistently with talent, no coach can win without it." ---john wooden
tirk you are a lunatic, brady sucks. one time he said something about thomas davis years ago and also made fun of me and hurt my feelings. he is terrible and i am an emotional child.
Not sure exactly what your point is but, out of 330 Division 1 schools, you come up with one example of a team that won it all with young talent. Is that the standard you hold head coaches to? Kind of tough don't you think? Try this: There are 330 Division one basketball teams. Of those, roughly 35 get to play in the tournament based upon their play during the season, i.e., not counting automatic bids. So, only about 4% of Div 1 basketball teams go to the dance with a legitimate shot at advancing. LSU is one of them. That is good enough for me. (Note to Brady Basher respondants: This is 2005. I don't give a damn if we finished 330th out of 330 in the past. Tell me what your problem is NOW!) Note to TE: I know, I know...no need to respond.
