texas is still Hesters leader, I think, but he is still considering LSU and another school or two.

I do not know anything about Bowers choices though.

I think Hesters 3rd is Miami. Bowers evidently went on a visit to Nebraska recently.

Ramah, you present a good point, something I never considered until now. But you are forgetting that you can't coach talent. Talent is talent. Coaches utilize talent, they don't create it. But, if we recruit a team full of players who play purely with their heart, we are limiting ourselves. That isn't to say I wouldn't want a whole team who had the passion Bradie James did or the heart that Travis Daniels plays with...But as a team, we are venturing into territory that we haven't been into in a while. We are trying to go for the National Championship. To play with the likes of Oklahoma's, we will need players like Matt Stoltz AND Luke Sanders...We will need sleepers like Quinn Johnson AND talented players like Marlon Favorite to compete year in and year out. That is why you cannot ever ignore the Early Doucets, Luke Sanders, Marlon Favorits, or Xavier Carters...I know that you aren't "ignoring" these playesr, but what you are saying is that we should forget about the "Top 100" lists and go after the "go getters." Bradie James played with all his heart and that is fantastic, but he was also a top 150 player....We have to go out there are recruit the most talented players we can get, no matter if they want to sign now...or an hour away from signing day...

Good point. If we want to be "players" on the national scene then we need to reel in these top 5 classes year in and year out. Every year whether the 3 Florida schools have had a down year or not they are right back in the top 5 or 10, at least putting themselves in a spot to continue to stay on that level. Saban may be great but he can't actually go out there and play and we definately need to keep Sanders and Doucet at home.

And I think Texas shows you that talent can't get you all the way. Mack Brown is a genius at reeling in the talent, but can't seem to utilize it. The Stoop's and Sabans have shown that you have to first bring in the talent and then utilize it correctly. It is no coincidence that there is a positive relationship between recruiting class rank and victories...For the most part, top classes produce top teams. Even Mack Brown can't screw it up that badly for Texas...But just imagine how unstoppable Texas would be if Saban, Stoops, or Pete Carroll were coaching the horns.

    ramah...Get a clue...

You think we're "thinking outside of the box" on getting verbals early?

Paterno was doing that sh!t at least 15 years ago, and Mack Brown at Tejas was doing it long before we were...

Hell, I remember DiNardo telling a caller on his radio show that the early verbal was not something new to guys like Paterno and others, but it was something that was still unheard of in the south...

I don't mind you throwing your "recruiting chops" around here to show off...Hell, I've watched my fair share of tape, and I've worked for LSU before too...

But, don't think for a minute you can come out here and mark off turf like you're the only person who is the final say on whether or not an opinion on a kid, a recruit, a philosophy, etc., is on target or off...

In other words, get off the high-horse, ponchy...
