I'm a 6. Let's play golf Wednesday or Thursday afternoon, should be nice weather. Uclub member here, otherwise we can just play at LSU Golf Course if LSU Golfer is still a student.
Your a member @ Uclub? Tell David his former co-worker says hello. I am off every Mon and Tues. Those are the only days I can play. And with a 6 at UClub I will have to give u 8 shots.
Giving me 8, I'll take it. Having been playing like a 20 lately. Maybe I will get a fluke round of 72 that day.
didnt read entire thread so if this was talked about excuse me, but Will Harris, and his brother Clayton (remeber him) both pitched here at my high school and were both very good. That was 4 or 5 years ago... but still very good pitchers... Clayton came out of the bullpen a few times at LSU to throw pretty well. How'd Will do?
Dude, what's your problem? I didn't know how the game went, so I asked someone. I don't sit at home and jerk off to the box score of a meaningless OOC lsu baseball series in the middle of february. I have things going on other than this forum so if I don't know 100% of what goes on at LSU. What I do know is that you have over 10,000 posts which means you spend way too much time at the computer, bashing other people who just ask a question about something they didn't catch.
Bringing in golf to this subject will illustrate how difficult it is to build an established program in any sport, especially one that has few scholarships such as the non football sports. LSU will NEVER have a national championship in golf as long as Florida and Georgia are in the mix. There are no if's ands or butts. We had Florida's coach and he didn't win it here. The reasons why are 3 fold: 1. Louisiana's junior golf program is one of the worst in the country. Period. Compare the junior programs in Tenn, Fla, Ga and Alabama and they produce players. If you don't have players in your own state you can't compete. Georgia has a ripe crop of players in their state every year and guess what, they go to school for free with out any scholarship moneys being spent because of the GA lottery. That is an incredible advantage to Georgia. They produce players year in and year out which makes them attractive to recruits. We have to spend a tremendous amount of money to get players to LSU because they all come from out of state. Each school can only give 4.5 scholarships in golf. We may have one or two players a year that can play SEC caliber golf. Georgia produces 20 to 30 per year. Tennessee is fast becoming what Georgia is because of their incredible junior program. Because of this advantage, Georgia and other SEC schools will dominate for many years because of this situation. 2. GA and Fla's facilities are by far much better than LSU. At our own tournament last fall, SMU shot the lowest score of any college tournament the whole year on our University course. I believe it was 39 under par for 3 rounds. Our course is not challenging for college players. 3. Golf is a big deal at those 2 universities. Because of their success, they raise a tremendous amount of money for their program. They also have successful camps because of their success... Basicly, the rich will keep getting richer. Is this a defeatist attitude, no... I am very realistic on the playing field that we have in this particular sport. I think the existing new coach was a great hire, but don't have any high expectations until Louisiana realizes that their junior golf program is pitiful. On to basketball, I could basically say ditto but to another level. While my points cannot include #1 because Louisiana does produce good college players, but #2 and #3 are definately true at the elite schools that have long established basketball programs. For example, Alabama spent 30 million on their old basketball facility. We spent a whopping 5 million. We have all of the above points when it comes to football. We have great players in the state, tremendous facilities and tons of TAF and corporate money that pours into the football coffers. Louisiana does not have the income levels to support more than one sport in my opinion. For these reasons, we will have some up and down years in basketball. Do I want a national championship in basketball, heck yes. Do I expect it, heck no.
Very good observation about youth golf. Though, I will try to recruit my brother- he shoots in the 60's regularly and is in 8th grade!
