1. yeah but why should we be excited about another publication saying we're not as good as them :(

  2. because we aren't. at least not proven going into this season. they've won 22 straight and after losing 3 games last season, we have to reprove ourselves.

I like foxsports quote the best:

"The Tigers might have the fastest receiving corps in college football history."
  3. We had our chance last year to shut up the naysayers by repeating. USC "did," we didn't. We never quite had "it" last year like we did in '03, and it caused some people to think we were, perhaps, a fluke.

We can gain "superpower" status with two titles in three years at the end of this season, or be considered a one-hit wonder. Only time will tell.

  4. what did they repeat? :hihi: :hihi: :crystal: :crystal: :crystal: :crystal:
  5. They had repeat 10+ win seasons..

I guess that is what he meant! :hihi:
  6. Are you actually complaining because a major publication has us preseason #2? are you ****ing kidding me? How bout we go back to the days when a top 25 was cause for a state wide celebration...
  7. Amen to that! LSU being mentioned as having as much or more talent than USC...all I say is THANKS! USC totally dismantled, embarrassed, destroyed OU in last year's title game. I've been saying that LSU has more talent on campus now than I think its ever had, top to bottom of the depth chart. Take a look at what I consider LSU's best teams over the last 20 years - the 1987 team that went 10-1-1 and the 2003 National Championship team. Now go back and compare each unit from top to bottom of those teams to this year's team. You might find better front-line starters in certain positions, but those teams were not as deep as this team is going into the season. In year's past you'd have to try to go and recruit a replacement for a player. I believe the talent is on campus NOW to replace anyone who has departed. Nick Saban and his staff stockpiled some very talented players, now it's up to Les Miles and his staff to cultivate that talent into a championship caliber team.
  8. Well, if we all use your logic, we wouldn't get excited about any preseason publications ever.

When was the last time LSU was a consensus preseason #1? 1973? 1959? Hell, even the national championship team started the season well outside the top 20.

Dude, when you say you derive no joy from being named a preseason *number two team in the country*, well...I think you're kinda out on that limb o' unhappiness by yourself.
  9. Even though they put as number 2, they give us a good bit of credit for being every bit as talented as USC. But with a 22 game win streak, 1.5 national championships in a row & a Heisman finalist & Heisman winner returning, you can't expect USC not to be #1. USC's got the more impressive resume, but LSU's probably a little more hungry. We shall see soon enough.
  10. Well, it is saying that we're better than about 115 other teams.
