Came down to LSU or Kansas. Saw him play against Florida the other night and he would no doubt be starting for us right now.
I'm not worried right now. We could be stepping on pansies and not getting the experience we need to step it up in the SEC. If we still struggle after a few weeks then I may be concerned. We were no where near any kind of championship form last season at this time. Why should we be now? Shouldn't Florida still be undefeated right now? They have the most talent I think in the country...
Don't get me wrong, I would love this team to prove me wrong. However, unless we find a true PG and a PF to compliment Glenn we are going to be in for a tough stretch in conference play.
While I don't completely disagree with you, I think that basketball teams can succeed in an "atypical" way, i.e., it's not absolutely necessary to have a "true" PG as long as your team passes the ball well and doesn't turn it over. Hence, why LSU could survive with Temple at point much of its great tourney run last year. For sake of argument, I think a key this year may not be 'finding a true PG and a PF" as much as it is finding another scoring option and maintaining good team chemistry. And, here's where Brady et al are going to have to adapt the offense. We have to blend in more capable wing guys, namely Mason, Mitchell and Martin, to score more. We lose the all out athletic presence of TTrain, period. But, Lazare can at least keep some teams honest and Rolle and Johnson can at least be active, along side Glen. Temple, Voogd and Tack will take some time to settle in to the right rotation, but you're hoping that someone there (for now) just realizes that their job is to get assists without turning the ball over and looks to score opportunistically. I guess my point is that I'm not necessarily too concerned with finding the true point or a PF, as I am with making sure that the three wing guys find their rhythm. Mason's been a little lost in the last couple of games, and when Martin gets added, what will he look like? Martin probably becomes eligible for the Texas game, although I'm not sure if he'll play a lot early. Mason needs to be scoring in the 12 ppg range in my opinion, and he's not found his groove.
