I hope so. I'm of the opinion that we were overrated at number 6, we're probably overrated at number 12. Davis is a monster, but he's got to show he can step up and be the go to guy when the chips are down. Tas is the closest thing we have to a 3-point threat, and he's marginal at that; hopefully Martin will help when he becomes eligible. Mason barely looks for the outside shot. Temple is not a true point guard; I'm not sure what he is, other than an above average defender. Minor could be our point guard, but clearly has lost CJB's trust. Lazarre and Rolle are nice players, but neither is explosive enough to step up and play off Davis the way TT did last year. Voogd...doesn't belong at this level, period. Mitchell is probably our best bet to help with the scoring, and he's just too unselfish a player to do it. This does not sound like a top 10 team to me.
Actually, I do have a clue. Do you? 52 points is pathetic. You really need to take your purple and gold glasses off and realize that we are not nearly the same team as we were last year. We do not have an explosive forward (or have one to step up yet) to replace Tyrus. Glenn is a big time player but is not a shot blocker like Tyrus was last year. Tac has not stepped up to fill D. Mitch's shoes like everyone was hoping. I am not bashing this team and am hoping that Brady finds the right combo to put on the floor to make a run. Granted the W. State game was the only one I saw this year and was expecting a lot more. I would not be as concerned if the score was 82-85.
Anybody take into account that Duke won 2 games this week to go along with a defeat against a team ranked 12th in one poll and 17th in the other poll, played on a neutral court? LSU, on the other hand, lost to a team that was barely in the top 25 and at home. Additionally, LSU didn't play any other games. All they had to show for the week was a loss. Fair rankings, indeed. :thumb:
LSU's ranking of 6th was way too high. For a team that doesn't even sport a PG, this team will struggle to find it's identity. This team is basically top 15-25, somewhere in that range. That will be good for about a 4 seed. I think we'll get a favorable seed based on last year's run in the big dance. That's about it. Nothing more. A fairly solid team, but not great.
Witchita State was a ranked team and will probably win there conference this year...and if wouldnt surprise me if they advanced deep in the tourny when march rolls around...you're judging the team and the season already after 3 games....why?
I'm not surprised at dropping that much. We didn't deserve to be in the top 10after that poor showing on Saturday. For those who were thinking Magnum Rolle could replace Tyrus, nice try. Darrell Arthur could have replaced Tyrus. He helped Kansas knock off Florida.
On 12/19/05 we lost 54-50 at home to Northern Iowa. They play in the same conference as Wichita State. Both are decent teams and play a style that leads to low scoring games. And Wichita made it to the sweet 16 last year. Way too early to press the panic button...
