Nice piece, thanks for the link. Its not often that the punter is seen as such a major weapon, but Brad Wing is a huge weapon for the LSU defense.

Welcome to the board, Torp. Enjoy.

Great video. It's like putting english on a cue ball. I remember back in the early days of ESPN, Australian Rules Football (as it was called) used to come on often. They used it to fill time for their 24 hour coverage when the network was in its infancy. Use to love the language of the broadcasters and terms used to describe the game. Kind of like me (cajun).:D

Nice tidbit from Bonnett the other day.

Who has received the most request for interviews on the LSU team? Matheiu?

Nope, Wing gets multiple request a day from media outlets from across the country and Australia. Said he might need to hire an assistant to keep things in order.

What has done my head in the last, ooohh say 28 years, is why every inch is sacred in running/passing game, yet the punting game has only been tightened and seen as a big weapon recently.
Years of forgotten percentages, that were just waiting there, ready to be cleaned up.

Even the type of Australian Punters recruited before Wing, were not the best they could get.
While Rocca, Graham and Bennett all had big kicks, they don't have the field kicking accuracy(or understanding) of Wing.
Graham was well known in his day for a booming kick, but his accuracy was never good.
Bennett and Rocca were primarily set shot goal kickers, they're AFL role was pretty much as receivers/goal kickers.

Hundreds would be more suitable than those three. I'm not kidding!

The key to McBriar and Wings success, is the grounding at College level.
Hey, it takes any sportsman a year to fit into a new team, let alone a new code of football!

Welcome! We love our punters/kickers here. I'm glad we can increase the LSU fan base around the world. Please stick around and have some fun talking sports with us. The next thing will be getting you into LSU baseball to fill the months waiting for LSU football again.

I should have no trouble fitting Baseball inbetween College Football, Cricket, Australian Football and the other sports I get way to deep into.

If I start getting my teeth into Baseball fielding, I'll let you know. Hate seeing bad fielding.! Almost more than watching bad Punting!

    Welcome mate. Enjoyed your post.

I've been following Wing since his Parkview Baptist days. Both my kids went there. And the neat thing about a punter like Brad is that he's also an athlete. Many kickers can do only one thing ... kick. Running, tackling and even a rare pass don't fall into many kickers repertoire. And he is a competitor as well. Nice to have him aboard.

    Welcome.

Awesome to see how Austrailia seems to have taken to the whole Brad Wing phenomenon and have become huge LSU fans.

We are in love with that kid.
