The Ticket ticks me off, too. Months can go by without a single reference to LSU, and then when there is one, it's offensive. My husband keeps dying for me to call in, because they'll always put a "chick" through--but I really don't want to have to discuss my measurements and endowments on the air! I've heard that's pretty much a pre-requisite for ladies calling in. My favorite moment of the last week was an e-mail between me and my editor at The Dallas Morning News (he was editor of the Aggie newspaper during his A & M days.) He said he figured it was tough living with me since my Tigers are in the NC game. I replied back, "Do you think the Aggies have any tips for us on how to handle OU?" He was properly zinged on that one.
I have to say, as a Louisiana native living in So Cal, I don't hear the insults about our state. I've never been put down or made to feel inferior. Just subtle insults thrown both ways about SC and LSU, it's just fan gamemanship. If anything, LSU getting this far this season has made me a little popular at work (judging by all the SC emails I get, and farks of LSU). I think Ralph is wrong on this one. People do care about this, and they are not just limited to BR and Okla. All anyone has been talking about out here has been directly connected to the NC and the LSU/SC/Okla debate. Even though the Lakers and Dodgers are big news, it has taken a back seat to college football in a city and state that really doesn't care all that much about college sports. As a huge college football fan, it has been refreshing to see PAC10/SC fans actually care about college football. I do think this type of behavior Ralph is talking about can be summed up with "casual college football fan". You know these people . . . like the guy in our office from UCLA who wears a stupid Florida St hat everyday (he is the one guy me and SC fans gang up against, what a jackass). These are fans who only care about the "hot teams" and "pro sports", or what Rome tells them what to care about. Anyway, I just wanted to let Louisiana fans know that not everyone thinks La is a backwards racists state. Most of the people I know out here vacation in Louisiana and have a lot of respect for our state . . . and b/c of this amazing season our school has had.
Re: LSU fans should stop whining about USC Rankings: End of Regular Season Expanded Rankings AP Poll RK TEAM RCS PTS PVS 1. USC (42) 11-1 1,595 2 2. LSU (21) 12-1 1,580 3 3. Oklahoma (2) 12-1 1,491 1 4. Michigan 10-2 1,437 4 It's not a "FACT" yet. It is more likely that another 10 voters and 15 points would be gathered by LSU from the USC side with a win ... and despite a USC win and their "BCS SMEAR CAMPAIGN". Don't believe what the NYT says about a Split National Championship.
