LSU could end the season w/ a #2 ranking, right?

You beat me to it. I'll only add that I wish they wouldn't have "Pre-season" rankings for that very reason and wait at least until the 3rd week or longer like the BCS........fans would go nuts but the coach's would probably like the players not getting caught up in it.

It would open the doors for much discussion- of course that's still present with the current format to as they are often debatable.

USC will probably be #1...though they will likely lose 1-2 games next year (UCLA, I believe is included in that....they had a fairly young team this year)

Michigan is going to have a horrible defense next year.

Ohio State is going to be down.

Wisconsin is going to lose Stocco.

    Texas A&M is looking good.

    LSU, of course.

Florida should be down with a few key player losses.

South Carolina should be getting better.

    Georgia is getting better.

Tennessee should continue to be eh.

PSU looked good in the bowl game.

ND is going to be down (I have a good feeling Clausen is going to be very very overrated...but then again, when is this anything new especially with ND?)

Louisville is going to be excellent.

Wake is going to be excellent.

Hawai'i is going to be good...more experience, Brennan, and Boise St. should be down next year.

So what should we look for?

    WAC champion: Hawai'i
Pac 10 Champion: UCLA (surprise of the year)
    Big 12 North: Nebraska
    Big 12 Champion: Texas A&M
SEC East: No clue. Toss up being UF, USC, and UGA.
    SEC Champion: LSU
    ACC Coastal: Virginia Tech
    ACC Champion: Wake Forest
Big Ten Champion: Between Wisconsin and PSU.
    Big East Champion: Louisville

    Conference Strength:

    1. SEC/Big Ten (as usual)
    3. Big East
    4. ACC
    5. Big 12
    6. Pac 10
    7. WAC

You could say the same thing about USC.

True but our two losses were to ranked teams and there's weren't. Also, they beat Washington and Washington St. by only 6 points and Arizona St. by one touchdown.

They have improved as the season progressed (Most notably in their secondary) and did have a lot of injuries they played through but I don't think they'll jump us.......it's the pre-season I'm worried about.

I'd take it even further... I would completely eliminate human voters from any BCS rankings, which means that the AP, coaches, and anyone else that wants to rank teams would be free to do so any time they want, just like some do for the NFL. We all know how important human polls of NFL teams are... not very.

I would love to see that and don't know why we should keep the human vote...if anyone knows the reason I'd be interested in knowing- unless it's just a remnant from the early beginnings- of which there was still split titles.

if I was a college coach and I honestly felt like my team was # 3 and another was #1, I'd vote accordingly but most won't; however, how to you face your team after you have to do that??

As long as we do have coaches voting in a poll that is part of the BCS rankings, I think that (a) all coaches should get a vote, (b) coaches can't rank their own teams, and (c) each team's highest and lowest ranking are excluded.

unfortunately, their win over UM has much more weight than ours over ND. not even close. there werent many people pushing for ND in NC last week.

I think you misunderstood my post that you quoted - those are changes that I think should be made to the coaches poll, but unfortunately that isn't the way the coaches poll works today.
