How does a team go from being ranked #7 and #8 to being ranked #2?I am not saying this because it is USC,but no one should. If OSU wins in a blowout LSU should be #2. If it is close either way Florida and OSU stay #1 and #2.If USC jumps LSU in the polls, there is no justice in college football. We lost to two top five teams.USC lost to two unranked opponents .That should matter!

Sounds like the North East Biased to me......

If tOSU wins, shouldn't Boise St. finish #2 (#3&4 will be LSU and USC)

Top 3, Red? Hard for me to see how, if JR returns, LSU is ranked anything lower than #2 to start the year.

Either way, a top 8 or so ranking is all but assured.

I think some people may be confusing "End of the year rankings" with "Pre-season" rankings, or maybe I misread and the distinction was implied. Whether or not JR comes back has no bearing on our end of the year ranking but will definitely impact our pre-season.

A & M will be top ten next year and good chance 8 or higher. They return a lot of starters and sports analysts have already begun pimping them.

usc also won a home bowl game against an obviously overrated michigan team.
LSU should not end up below usc for final rankings.

Actually, I'm a BR fella, but have lived in TW since 2000, so yes I do follow a certain TE from TX.

As for as keeping it to the thread, I'd say LSU ends up 3rd at the best. I think it depends on how the MNC game turns out. If it's close, I think the AP gives those 2 teams the 1 and 2 spot. If it's a blowout by Florida then it will definitely be Fl #1 and Ohio St. #2. If it's the other way, then Florida will slide and Wisky,Boise,USC,LSU and Florida will be fighting for the 2 thru 6 slot.

I agree with everything you say here, except that I don't think LSU's Sugar Bowl performance will allow anyone to jump over them, with the possible exception of USuCk. I think LSU finishes 3rd.

I don't much care for rankings at the pre-season.. it's mostly meaningless and opinionated BS anyway.

I start paying more attention to them around mid to late October or later... at that point they mean a little more IMHO.

Unfortunately, that's not always true (the "meaningless" part - I agree that it's BS :)). Voters are reluctant to leapfrog one winning team over a team that is also winning, and the 2004 season shows you what happens... an undefeated Auburn was never able to get into the top 2, because the two teams ranked above Auburn all year never lost.
