Just returned from the Crescent City tigers banquet. This was the first year Brady wasn't glib. He talked about the future, the fact he is all over the kid from Brother Martin, how difficult the schedule will be. Talked up the recruit from Oregon. Even spoke that Tank is learning that he can't get away with things on and off the court that he could in the past. Definitely a new Brown Suit tune. In previous years he'd kid about Skip trying fire him, not this go round. He sounded like some who knows what has to be done.
Glad to know we'll give our coaches an 8 year learning curve before holding them accountable. I'm sure BradyFan will be in total agreement with me on that one.
You know where I stand on this one. I think the highlight for me is that Brady is now aware that 2 winning SEC seasons in eight years doesn't cut it. I won $5 from a Brady apologist regarding who hired him. You know, Mike Anderson is still out there...
To hire a guy based on one game would not be a good decision, but I have to admit that I like the way he runs his program and if he can continue to keep the blazers in the BCAA and advancing he will get a shot somewhere.
This has been going on since January. Mike Anderson's resume based solely on his Arkansas days is enough for me. "40 minutes of hell" would pack the Assembly Center. Anderson is much, much more than one game, just as Brady is much, much more than one season.
It is very interesting thread. Those who doubted G. Davis cant play last year still posting. Glen Davis did fine & got SEC Freshman of the Year under his belt. The coming class is terrific which ranked as Number 8th recruiting class in the country, in additon of two red shirt freshmen from last year. LSU finally put together a team to compete nationally, and those with ill intenion still doubt the program. I watched LSU basketball in the old Gym before it moved to The Assembly Center. It is disturbing to read posts from young & uneducated posters who does not know about LSU basketball history nor its tradition to shoot their mouth off about LSU's baskeball. The bandwagon fan on football should remember those painful days which we struggle & Sugar Bowl 2004 when we finally got the trophy back (1958-2004)
people doubt the program because it has done squat nationally since 86. so you need to know lsu basketball history to have an opinion? you know, just because youve been around a while doesnt mean your points make sense.
A) It's great that basketball is being discussed with passion even though football is less than 40 days from kicking off; B) The successes in softball, women's basketball, baseball, and especially football have put a ton of pressure on Brady to produce; C) The landscape of college basketball has changed dramatically since 1996 with high schoolers going pro; will the new NBA rules revert basketball to kids staying longer; D) Brady's biggest obsticles and probably the ones that hurt him the most are John Brady's personality, he's not well liked and his teams lack charisma; E) And that translates into empty seats and minimal home court advantage.
