I'm ashamed to admit I gave up on this one. When we were down 6 and lost the review of the out-of-bounds in the first overtime, I just knew it was over. I don't really care how ugly it was at this point, I'm glad we got a very important win!
not even close. as i thought after watching the mizzou game, quarterman is the best and smartest player on their floor. the bigs arent near aggressive enough and play really small. and they will need patterson. hes at least comfortable shooting the ball from outside and a natural free throw shooter. not sure how they won this game but they deserved the W. they didnt deserve one thursday. it feels like this team would get killed by a really disciplined team.
Grey looked better but still has plenty of room for improvement. Georgia was tearing up the offensive boards which was annoying. I guess M&M are getting the attention of opposing teams; I'm glad Quarterman, Hornsby, and the rest of the team are stepping up. Agree about Patterson. Hell, even the 7' white guy did a couple of good things. If Gray can elevate his game it'll probably help M&M, but they gotta do the fundamentals better.
yeah, he was better this game after a poor 2nd half last game. he did miss some clutch free throws that would have iced the game in regulation and OT.
I have to admit that I also gave up on this one too early. Glad they pulled out the win but frustrating to watch us up by 7 with five minutes to go and shooting contested three pointers only ten seconds into the shot clock instead of looking inside to our bigs. Just don't understand why we wouldn't slow down and play for a good shot while running off a little clock. To win in the tournament and down the SEC stretch we will have to improve how we close out teams. I think Patterson is further along that Gray at this point, at least as far as being a pure point guard goes. Quarterman might end up being the best Pro player on this team, not Mickey or Martin.
gray has a lot of potential. he does look stoned all of the time. quarterman needs someone to step up to help him because they stopped rotating again when the game was on the line. showed a lot of grit but they seem fundamentally not so great. and free throw shooting is going to cost them a lot of games if they dont improve a lot.
